If I could rate this a restaurant a zero I most definitely would. I’ve been to this specific location numerous times and never been treated so poorly. Drove from Weslaco just because I wanted that broccoli and cheddar casserole and what a waste of gas and time. Showed up around 6-6:30 got seated pretty quick, not much interaction with the hostesses they seemed to be having a bad day or just ready to go home . Not too bad compared to the service we got from our waitress. Not sure her name but we were seated on the bar side in a booth(with our two daughters). It took her a while to get to our table to even give us menus. We both ordered teas and I send them back after we tasted them, they were lacking flavor. The color looked off also. I asked her if she could serve us new ones to see if they all tasted the same. She brought us back new teas which had way better color and taste. When it came to ordering the food she seemed to be getting annoyed because we weren’t ready to order when she brought the drinks. We got our appetizer and we placed our order. Took a decent amount of time by the time we got our food. My husband ordered a medium well steak and she didn’t even ask for him to cut it or check if it was cooked to his liking. I had the shrimp and chicken tender plate , she didn’t even give me a chance to ask for lemons or buffalo sauce. She placed our plates on the table and walked away. My husband didn’t even cut into the steak he could tell it was still raw, there was blood coming out of it. I really wish I would’ve taken a picture. So we waited a few minutes looking around for our waitress so I can ask for lemons and to ask if my husband plate could be remade properly. She was nowhere to be found. I saw another young lady waitress pass by and asked her if she could get a manager for me. I mean typically in a situation like this managers strive to fix the problem, not this manager. The manager (which I don’t know her name but was wearing a blue button up shirt) gets to our table , i start speaking to her about my displeasure with the waitress service and the issue with my husbands food instead of apologizing or even offering to send me a new waitress she rudely grabs my husbands plate and walks away. My husband and I looked at each like what the heck was that about? That’s the manager? No wonder the employees have a ugly attitude, they see their leader treat customers so poorly. They don’t know any better. The waitress walks back to our table and asks is everything okay here? I said “no but it doesn’t seem to matter to your manager either “ she said “okay” rolled her eyes and walked away. There was a waitress that heard it all she looked so confused as she couldn’t believe what I had been told and how poorly we were treated. My husband and I decided to grab our daughters and go, when we did get up and started to walk away the waitress that witnessed everything looked at us with such an embarrassment look and apologized . Which she didn’t owe us apology for anything but I’m sure she felt embarrassed for her peers actions. We left and had a delicious meal and wonderful customer service experience at Cracker Barrel! Read moreHonestly I'm very lenient when it comes to judging a server because I myself was a server and I have several siblings that also work in restaurants. That being said, it was the worst experience I've had in a long while. No refills, entrees were mixed up, salads got to our table simultaneously with our food. One salad never made it to the table. One plate had a side of 6 french fries. Like literally 6 single fries next to their meal as a side. We were missing silverware and plates. The plates we did get stayed on our table the entire meal. My table was not bussed til we asked for our cake that we brought in for my sisters birthday. We literally had multiple plates piled up in front of us while we ate which was very uncomfortable and crowded. With all these issues you would think we got there at a busy hour but you'd be wrong. There were hardly people dining in while we were there. Giving our server the benefit of the doubt that MAYBE he was personally busy doing something(but doubtful), I would expect a manager or another server would step in to help. Aside from bringing out our food, not one other server offer to help him out or take away our dirty dishes to enjoy our next course. Not even as they brought our main courses to our table. Instead, one of his co-workers told me to "hurry up and eat my salad faster" as he dropped of my entree less than one minute from recieving my salad. I hadn't even had a chance to pour my ranch on my salad to dig in because (not to be repetitive) we literally got our food and salads less than 60 seconds apart. My servers name was Gabe, and if he's new then I understand why he made his mistakes but like I mentioned before, there are several other servers that should have stepped in. It was collectively a horrible experience for my sisters birthday and I doubt I'll return to the harlingen location. Mcallen will be my go to place to eat at Cheddar's...
Read moreI have visited this Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen many times and have been disappointed to give any more than 2 stars. This place on a packed night has the worst service taking over 30 minutes for seating, service, and just to receive bad tasting food. On multiple occasions family members and I will hope for a better experience than the last but get either the same thing or worse. I will almost always order the Grilled salmon the same way every time. But, there have been times where it's over cooked, burnt, or very over-seasoned. I cook all kinds of meats, chicken, and fish all the time and I can say it's not that hard to cook salmon. It should be a very quick and easy fish to grill. I can accept an undercooked meal and have it cooked a little more, but it's annoying having to wait for a new dish to be made and wait while everyone else is eating without you. As for their meats, we've had very undercooked or raw steaks while asking for med-rare. There are also times where will get very slow service and get overcooked and burnt steaks and ask for new dishes waiting around 40 minutes for them to get it right. Just yesterday I went and asked for the same thing I always get and got an overcooked salmon, undercooked steak, had our dessert cookie with ice-cream be remade because it was apparently burnt. Luckily the manager caught it before we did but came to inform us anyways since it was already taking over 25 minutes to receive it. Even asking for refills or drinks when being seated has taken up to 30 minutes or more on both packed and more open calm days. I live closer to this Cheddar's but sometimes I find myself choosing the Brownsville location more since we get better service there. Even with todays gas prices and running on a V8 really goes to show the lengths I make to get good service, and better...
