Denny's — Restaurant in Harlingen

Denny's 4703 S Expressway #77/83 Harlingen Texas Was asking about Redeeming a reward for take out, rudely manager his eyes occupied at the register and chatting with other employees not making eye contact said my redeemable reward was for dine in only, I said it doesn't state that and of course that's why I came inside to scan and redeem my birthday reward he said no it's only to dine in, such a horrible person after he ignored me while in embarrassment the onlookers employees stared, sometimes circumstances of people differ etc.. but be nice you don't know what people are going through daily, this place has a very negative attitude. I don't recommend coming to this Denny's in Harlingen Texas next to the expressway but each their own decision plus wks past I did dine in with family before and they asked if everything was fine paying at the register and I said food was super cold and bacon was very dry hard rubbery not fresh reheated but seemed they unconcerned so why ask. Denny's need to hire people that actually enjoy working there and want to make their customers satisfied happy. Simply an aweful experience today 08/17/24 at 8am

I went and had dinner with my nephews after the movies. I think maybe the crew was tired. The restaurant was half full because a section was closed off so we had to wait for 10 min. With COVID I have to consider Denny's one of the restaurants out there to still keep things as normal considering what is going on. I do think the food and service were it bit less than good as usual due to this and it's staff being exhausted. I ordered the 3 appetizer. Double cheese sticks and onion rings. The cheese sticks were cooked crispy golden brown. Very well done but the onion rings were a little burned. I also ordered the caramel pancakes which didn't disappoint. Yummy. My nephews orders the fish which was a little dry but the sides were very good. My other nephew ordered the chicken fried steak, large Texas portions. The mash potatoes were done with real potatoes but the corn was not that good. My other nephew ordered the grand slam which was all cooked accordingly well. And my other nephew ordered the sandwich with fries which was also very good. They needed more waiters. Hopefully the economy picks up and people will go back to work. The waiter did his best considering the amount of tables he had to serve. We waited patiently because we understand the situation. The service and hospitality was more than anybody would want. I went in for a meal and ended up staying all thruogh the night, because of the horrible thunderstorms.They provided a safe place atmosphere that night i was stranded because of the weather. Yessi my first waitress was kind and gave me good service. After eating I realized it would be a while before I could leave. I waited out the storm thinking I'd be keaving in a couple hours. The person in charge at that time Juan was vary kind and understanding. He knew I couldn't leave,the weather was horrible. He said it's ok you can stay and wait it out. The next waitress that was there was katie, who had the grave yard shift, was so kind. She kept checking up on me. we got to talking. Between her and Juan talking to me, made me feel calm and safe about being stranded. Thank you Katie and Juan, i greatly appreciate you guys,specially in the scary thunderstorms. Morning came the general Manger Jose came into work. He was kind and friendly. He knew about my situation. He said I could continue to wait for someone to pick me up.
