I can’t say enough about this place but I’ll try to keep the word count of this review down for the sake of those (like me) with short attention spans. You absolutely NEED to visit Alvaro’s. I have yet to come across something on the menu I don’t like. The breakfast items are so fresh and delicious that if I think about them too hard I could cry happy tears. Imagine a fresh egg on a fresh piece of italian bread with a hot cup of fresh made espresso… chefs kiss! The lunches are also fantastic. I frequent here on Wednesdays when I have to be in the office and the only things I look forward to those days are a dish of Alvaro’s tortellini and a phenomenally sweet biscotti for dessert. I haven’t been to the dinner service since before covid, but I’m assuming the experience it just as wonderful. Personally, Alvaro’s make me feel like home. I love walking out and smelling like fresh bread and pastries. The family makes you feel like you’re part of the neighborhood whether you’re a regular or just stopping by for a slice on your way through town. Do yourself a favor, if you haven’t already, and dine here!...

The wife and i went here with friends on july 17th for our birthday. We both had "eggplant parm" which consisted of two slices of eggplant with a slice of mozzarella between the pieces of eggplant on paper plates topped with tomatosauce and powdered parmasean cheese. We watched them microwave the Food which was soggy. The tables were sticky and the rolls were hard and stale. The dipping oil was NOT Olive oil but did have herbs in it. Both my wife and I got sick. My wife is still sick but I have recovered. My friends wife also got sick and ended up pulling over and throwing up within the 17 minutes it took for us to get to our house from the restaurant. The restaurant was unkempt and too hot. When my wife called them to let them know how sick the food made her they hung up on her. So we reported them the health department. Over all the experience was terrible. We will never eat there again and we have been letting all of our friends and co-workers know to avoid eating there. So please be safe and avoid...

We have been here twice. First time we got in the long line after 12:30 pm and ordered carry out.

The line is long during lunch hour so it's not comfortable to eat indoors with so many people standing so close unless you can get seat near the window or outside. There is no wait service, they have bottled sodas to purchase, and plastic utensils.

I didn't like the pizza, which tasted tough. Husband's penne with sausage was delicious, but it seemed like small portions. Didn't take photos because we were famished when we got home. Husband was disappointed to see small portions. Son's ravioli with chicken parm looked plentiful.

We went today to get cookies for $11 lb. We ate 6 cookies before I took photo. They are to die for on a cold fall night with hot tea and coffee. We missed out on the rainbow cookies, which sold out in the morning. Those are the perfect Christmas cookies.

We will be back. We live in Linglestown so we'll be eating at the Front St location...

My wife and I had lunch here. We tried a sampling of all the small pastries, a cannoli and a blueberry Danish. I also tried a slice of their meat lovers pizza. Everything is made fresh daily and anything left over is donated locally. The pizza was incredible - as you'd expect from a bread/pastry place perhaps, the crust was so delicious and the sauce and toppings were a great compliment to the bread. It was amazing how each of the pastries had unique flavors and textures - some were sweet, some more savory, chocolate, coconut, various jellies and fillings. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The small indoor dining area is complemented by an outdoor area. It's not a busy section of town and we were able to find street parking easy enough, although after having been there, I'd walk a few blocks if needed next time!

This place is our favorite! Family owned business with quality food and very friendly service. Pastries; the pastries are the best - literally get anything, you won’t be disappointed. Nutella croissants and cannolis are my jam though. Gelato; get some uniquely flavored gelato on a warm day. Pizza; very affordable pizza slices with big portions! Delish. Bread; take some fresh bread to-go and toast it in your oven for dinner. Atmosphere; Eat inside for an authentic Italian experience. Take your food outside and enjoy the sidewalk views of Green St.
