Nice addition to the area. The decor fits the name- I like indoor/outdoor seating options. The menu is very diverse and there is truly something for everyone (if you come from a family of picky eaters).
On to the food: I’ve only been here twice. I went on a Friday for lunch and came back on Saturday because I enjoyed my lunch so much. My first visit I tried the brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and the lobster roll. I’m a foodie and I like to make food reviews so this was the premise for my visit. The Brussels were spectacular and the lobster roll was great! The Mac and cheese was a bit too thick for me- when I say thick I mean the the cheese was thick and overpowering. I believe the Mac would be better if they loosened it up a bit.
On to my second visit which made me give a 3 rating: this time we ordered 3 lobster rolls, Mac again for the kids (don’t do this bc it’s a bit spicy), chicken and tenders, and a burger (which we didn’t get) the salmon dish, chicken & mushrooms dish, deviled eggs, strawberry shortcake and something else that I can’t seem to remember now.
Devil eggs- loved them and I’m not an egg fan. I love the jalapeños with the crispy bacon on top- there was a nice balance here that kept me coming back to them.
The lobster rolls are pretty good- go ahead and order them. It’s not like Cousins Maine, but it’s a good runner up.
Here’s where things got dicey: the salmon with chili sauce- there needs to be some adjusting here, the salmon was extremely “fishy” in taste- pre-rinsing in some lime or lemon will cut some of that. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but again the over fishy taste was not pleasing. I also didn’t care for the hash with the salmon- another side option is needed here. The chili sauce was just as you would order from the store- nothing fancy. Asparagus on this dish was cooked well- and ironically they did have a grilled lemon to accompany the plate, I would’ve loved it if they used that to cut the taste of the fish.
Chicken & mushroom dish: when I placed the order for this dish, I was told it was reminiscent of chicken Marsala and I have to disagree. This was a chicken breast with cheese and lightly sauced mushrooms. This dish definitely could be a bit more elevated, if the intent is to mimic chicken Marsala then the Marsala sauce needs to come through and there needs to be more than 3 mushrooms, but most importantly- don’t over cook the chicken. The chicken was extremely dry and over cooked-sadly 90% of this dish went in the trash- dry chicken breast is a no go, I’d rather eat cardboard. The elements are there but there was no real flavor- I was looking for the Marsala taste as that’s how it was described and it was a huge miss. The plating was nice- again the hash wouldn’t have been my recommendation.
Strawberry shortcake- sounded good, but it’s a biscuit with a strawberry compote of sorts with ice cream. I got this to go and the kid on the strawberry mix wasn’t on properly so to my surprise when I opened the bag that was spilled everywhere within its on separate bag and therefore not edible.
The pricing isn’t expensive, but it’s not cheap either. On this particular order, it was almost $200- and for this price, I really would want to enjoy my food and not be served dry over cooked chicken… I was disappointed after my second visit.
I’ve tasted some decent things here: Brussel sprouts, lobster roll, and deviled eggs. I would revisit but I think I’ll stick to just the lobster roll.
Update 8/11/23: I’ve been back for lunch and discussing revisiting for dinner. They have made some adjustments to the menu and I love the...

⭐️ 1/5
I was truly disappointed with my experience at Bubba’s Bunkhouse. We came here for what we hoped would be a pleasant family dinner, but unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
First off, the food was absolutely disgusting. My mother-in-law’s meal seemed like it had been reheated, and not in a way that even attempted to mask it. There was a stale, microwave taste to the dish that made it feel like it had been sitting out for hours, only to be warmed up and served without any care. For a place that tries to market itself as a cozy, rustic dining experience, it felt like cafeteria food that had lost all its flavor and texture in the process. I couldn’t believe they’d serve something so blatantly reheated.
Then, the meat. It was beyond disappointing. Dried out, tough, and overcooked to the point of almost being unrecognizable. You’d expect at least a bit of juiciness or flavor, but it was as if every ounce of quality had been drained. Every bite was a struggle, and it honestly left me feeling sad and uncomfortable at the table. When you’re out for a family meal, you expect the food to bring you together in enjoyment—not to have everyone wishing they were somewhere else.
The only positive part of the evening was the service. Our waiter did his best to accommodate us, was attentive, and genuinely tried to make the experience better, despite the food’s lack of quality. It was clear that he was doing his job as best as he could, and I appreciate that.
If you’re thinking of coming here for a family dinner or any kind of special occasion, I’d urge you to look elsewhere. The experience is simply not worth it. You deserve better food for the money you’re spending, and Bubba’s Bunkhouse, sadly, does...
Read moreFirst visit is below. Visited again today to try their full menu. I won't be back. I have never had such small pieces, nickle size and smaller, burnt ends. They were also so dry it was like chewing on leather. The baked beans - they were in a rectangle bowl - half of the beans were barely warm the other half was cold. I'd almost bet the beans are Bushs brand and a poor job at trying to dress them up so they would seem like the restaurants own was either attempted or they mixed a couple different flavors together. My partners burnt ends were the same as mine and his entire bowl of beans was, as he called them, luke warm. Our coleslaw was cool, definitely not safe temp. The corn nuggets... the first one I bit into wasn't done in the center. Another was done but lacking in flavor.
The hostess seating us carried the small plates for appetizers, plate top resting on her chest so she could also carry silverware and menu's. Her hair was also long enough it was caught between the plates and her body. Needless to say we didn't use those plates.
This place is more about atmosphere. It also seems more like quanity than quality. Sad because it is a neat looking establishment.
First visit. Very disappointed in that the web site does not say they have limited brunch menu at certain times. We'd looked at the menu and decided to try, disappointed. Our server was good but not as nice and informative about the menu options and when the full menu would be back in play as the young man who served a table near us. The food we did have was good, we settled and decided to give it try. The decor is rustic and nice. They do not appear to have a lot on inside seating and their covered patio when it is this hot and muggy by lunch is not a comfortable...
