Was looking forward to enjoying a nice IPA draft after an entirely stressful day but the heavy weighted brunette female bartender tanked that with her attitude. We went around to look at their fridge options first & after thoughtfully selecting ours, we stood to pay at the end of their bar. She says we'll have to wait bc there are a few people ahead which I didn't mind at the slightest. Then after trying to squinch & look at their draft selections, I noticed their wonderful t.v clearly in the middle had the menu on there. Initially when we walked in I assumed the game was on or something. We reconsidered and thought to do draft first & enjoy our bottle selection second bc if there's draft you treat yourself to that first right? It only makes sense. So as we respectfully wait our turn we learn you can sample which made things more exciting. But oh goodness, the turn things take. So first the guest I was with assumed the girls in front were done with their sample request so she proceeded to request hers until the girl wasn't really done. So my friend and her was politely going back and forth "no It's okay, you go ahead" for a measly 5 seconds until the mean bartender with a serious face the whole time just stared and said, "I just need to pour a beer" but her eyes really said, "stop messing around and hurry up, this is annoying me." And I'm thinking wow, that took you no time to lose your patience, over 2 polite people. Then we finally get to ask her for 3 samples, which were airy berry, lucky pineapple, and their only ipa that night, wierd range I know but it's only samples. Anyways as she's pouring she said "what was it again, the pineapple one?" We said yeah pineapple and ipa after we saw she poured the airy berry already. Then my guest told me oh wait she already poured 2, I think this one is already pineapple. So I go oh ok nevermind we just need the ipa which is what she was already doing before we already realized. But the problem is she glared at us like we were stupid and wasting her time when she was the one who forgot she already poured the pineapple one and we were just helping. I was grabbing a seat at the bar while she was doing that so no I wasn't staring at what she was doing. But apparently she just might require you to because her attitude is obsurd and definitely uncalled for. I don't know what that was about. Bad day? I still didn't deserve that. I know all about giving great customer service no matter what you're feeling. And I know there's no reason to be disrespectful to people who did nothing to you but be nice. So I no longer wanted anymore help from her regardless of the 280 options she wanted to mention they have, of course she didn't tell me in a nice way either. I told her we see your other options, we went there first (of course she didn't remember that) but obviously I'm no longer interested. Thanks alot for her serving of ice cold rude for absolutely no reason. Sour feeling left in my mouth but it's not from the beer. Airy berry was surprisingly my favorite, definetly can see why it's called airy, very clean, it probably should've just been water. It was like a fruit infused water, but beer. I truly love IPAs but theirs wasn't my favorite and the pineapple lucky one was ok. My guest ended up with the airy berry, apparently without asking, when you you pay you'll get a second half of a beer later. Even though I saw other people get it filled to the top. She wondered why the bartender did that but I told her, we don't have time for further interaction. She probably would've just looked at us like we were the stupid ones once again.
I hope vortex can get another bartender before she runs everyone away. This is their first few weeks open or so. I'm not hard to please by any means but that was unacceptable. If I had the time I would've loved to tell her myself but we were just killing time to make dinner plans with another group who were unexpectedly ready sooner than we thought in Concord. Good luck to this place, hope you treat your...
Read moreI went here on Friday night at 8:30. It was very busy, and the service was very slow to start. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone helped us once we sat down. Wasn’t a big deal seeing as how busy they were. Then the waiter told us to wait on our drink order so he could put someone else’s order in before he forgot it after coming to our table and we started telling him our order. So our drinks came out in a timely manner, and everything mostly seemed to be fine, these weren’t major issues at the time. Then we put our food order in and sometime after, I had an empty glass for probably 30 minutes as well as the people I was with who finished their drinks shortly after me. We were preoccupied talking and then realized it had been almost an hour since we put our food order in, and nobody had come to the table since we ordered the food, not once, or we would have ordered more drinks. They forgot to put the order in which we had to go to the bar to tell someone because no one would come to the table. So we got our food and still had no drinks, so we had to again go to the bar to get second drinks to have with dinner.
I know this was very long winded, but this was probably in the top 3 worst service I have ever had. I have never left a $0 tip until then and I usually tip 20% for mediocre service.
This was disappointing as we live 5 minutes away and were excited when we discovered this place. It’s something Harrisburg didn’t have and it’s a place I was hoping to be able to come to somewhat regularly. But now we have zero plans to ever come back. This is unfortunate when they have an opportunity to really have a cool local place to hangout. I will be spending my money elsewhere...
Read moreWe moved to Harrisburg a year ago and have been wanting to try Vortex ever since. We’ve heard nothing but good things. We were so excited that we waited for our wedding anniversary because we thought it would be special. Upon ordering our drinks, my wine arrived in a dirty glass with a lot of food and prints on the outside as well as stuff floating inside. I mean large pieces of stuff. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt so I drank as much as I could without swallowing any gross floaters. I ordered another. It was even worse. At this point I’m just ready to go but our food hadn’t arrived. I saw the note at the top of the menu by tapas that food would be served when ready, but I thought was for the tapas section. My husband and I ordered main entrees. His arrived ten minutes before mine. The waitress was considerate and noticed immediately and went to check on it, so that was very nice. We had no issues with customer service. However, I ordered the chicken prosciutto flat bread. It had balsamic glaze that tasted more like bbq sauce. I couldn’t taste the pesto foundation or roasted red peppers or chicken at all. All I could taste was the mozzarella and balsamic. Over all, I paid $10 a glass for dirty wine glasses with floaters and couldn’t finish either glass. Then $16 for a “chicken prosciutto” flatbread that actually tasted like a bbq cheese bread. It is an over priced and dirty place. We will not go back. We do appreciate the waitresses being professional and respectful which is why we give...
