Food is bland and the male owner/manager needs lessons in working with public. We went up to the ladies behind the front counter and asked for a table for 2 people. We were told they had a small wait but they did not ask for our names or write anything down. I figured it was no problem since we were the only people waiting. As we waited a few more groups came in. The male owner/manager came up and proceeded to sit a few groups that came in after us. I walked up to the girls behind the counter to inform them. The informed me that the guy just comes up and sits groups without any order but they will be sure to inform him to take us next. Before I could go back to the waiting area, the man comes up behind me. The girls start to inform that we should be next. The owner cuts them off, talks over them and then proceeded to grab my arm to start hauling me back to the waiting area. I stop in place and ask him please do not touch me. I'm not sure how the owner thinks putting his hands on someone and hauling them around is okay but it's very rude and unprofessional. I go back to the waiting area with my husband and a few minutes later we are placed at our table. This place has greek, southern and Italian food on the menu. This should have been my first sign that it wasn't going to be good greek food. The food was very bland. I ended up taking most of my food home in a to go container. I only did this because I hate being rude at a restaurant but I honestly did not want the food. The only positive thing I have to say is the waitress was polite. I also feel bad for the girls behind the front desk. I only saw the owner's interaction with them for a few seconds and he was rude to them. It has been a while since we went there but the way the whole process went down still bothers me. I hope the girls no longer for him. This was our first and last time going to...
Read moreI went to Harrisburg Family House Restaurant to pick up dinner. All of the employees were caucasian teenagers An employee is supposed to come out to the car to take your order. No one came out, so I walked into the “To Go” entrance where I wasn’t greeted as the employee at the register was on the phone. Two other employees walked past me while she was on the phone and said nothing. Once she was done on the phone, I asked to see a menu. After deciding what I wanted to order, I let the employee at the register know. She proceeded to tell me that she couldn’t take my order and that I had to go to the main entrance. I asked her if I would have to come back there to pick it up after I ordered. She responded that they would bring it to the main entrance or I could pick it up from there. 🤔 I proceeded to go to the entrance to ask why I wasn’t able to place an order in the “TO GO” section. The two employees looked at each other confused. One said that that had happened once yesterday as well….Makes me wonder if it was another POC. 🤔🤔 Why would I go place an order up front to go back to the “TO GO” entrance and get it when she had two registers in front of her? There were also several TO GO orders on the shelf that clearly had to be picked up from the “TO GO” section of the restaurant. I clearly heard her take a whole order over the phone and type it into the register in front of her. There were not only one, but two registers there. There was also another person who walked in after me to place an order. I guess my black face didn’t qualify to place an order like everyone else?? Needless to say, I decided against ordering there. This isn’t the first time I had an issue at this place. I didn’t say anything the first time, but I had to make my POC aware...
Read moreStruggling between 3 and 4 stars. Have been here several time. Food is always good, classic diner fare. I don't think I have ever had an issue with any staff. It is a busy place and you could face a small wait if you go at "normal" meal times or weekends.
Had a small issue last night. They have steak tip and steak strip dinners. One is listed with rice, peppers, onions, the other just says marinated. We ordered one of each. Meals came and both looked identical with onions, peppers, rice, gravy. Both tasted the same. (We are pretty firm believers if an order is wrong, as long as it is edible, don't send it back). At check out when asked how was it. I asked the difference between the two dishes...she didn't know, said only had been in kitchen once. I then said well there has to be a difference and waitress should be aware that there are two different meals that are somewhat similar and make sure which one the customer is ordering. The cashier blamed it on the kitchen said no way could be the servers fault. I said if it was the kitchen how was the receipt, entered by the server with 2 of the same meals correct?? she didn't list one of each. Server needs to know the menu and what each dish looks like and to ask the customer if she is confused. Cashier needs to learn to take a customers concern and not go on defense. Proper response would have been "i will pass your concern on to the manager" (oh, in case someone thinks i an a jerk, 38 years in restaurant business - Cafe and catering)
With all that said.. Will go back. It is a good place. If you have a sweet tooth... check out...
