First off i would like to state that my wife and I are from South Florida and we love to eat Jamaican style food all the time. From the start the woman serving us seemed to have an attitude already soon as we walked up to the counter. The food looked ok so we proceeded to place an order of med size oxtails with rice and peas, a side of cabbage, curry chicken with rice and a side of macaroni and cheese, a beef and chicken patty and also a dumpling which totaled up to $40.23 exactly. As my wife and I sat im the car to eat because we had driven abt 20-30 minutes to eat here immediately my wife mentioned that her mac and cheese didnt taste like much. So I started to try my own food to be sure and honestly, this food tasted like a meal i could’ve prepared in my own home. There was no real seasoning the food lacked that jamaican style kick of flavor and spice that we were looking forward too. The rice and peas were mushy, the oxtails tasted like the day before and didnt have a real seasoning to them. The cabbage was undercooked and crunched when i tried to bite threw it , it was almost raw. Only thing we did eat were the patties and on top of that my wife spotted a small piece of hair in her dumpling!!!! So finally i said enough is enough and asked for a refund, when the owner came out she was very combative and unreasonable. She also refused to give me a refund stating that its a shame that we as (black people) are always trying to tear one another down simply because we did not like the food. I dont recommend Porters to anyone who KNOWS how good Jamaican food should taste u are gonna be disappointed. I always try and support black owned businesses and have a history of doing so but this place could never see another red cent or support from me or my family and friends ever again. Sincerely as a black man. Oh and 1 more thing we left all the food there at the store and still didnt get...
Read moreOk so this place used to be good, maybe 5 years ago. I got a large oxtail at 2:15pm today. The oxtail was cold. I only got 5 small pieces with a large order. The two people prior to me got a small and got just as much or more. All for the price of $21 with a drink. When I bit into the first oxtail I wanted so bad to return the whole thing and ask for my money back. Instead I decided to write this message as a warning to anyone who decides to go. On top of that she spilled sauce all in my bag, without even bothering to clean it up!😡 Yes there is long lines but most of these ppl never had good Jamaican oxtail... they are never 👎🏾 going to get my money again in this lifetime. 😵 now a half hour later my stomach is starting to hurt. I am...
Read moreA few years ago this was the best Jamaican food I had. Damn, it has fell off like crack dealers in the eightes. My friend and I both threw the platter in the trash after a few bites. I felt bad because I raved to my friends about this place. The older woman that owns the place isn't there anymore but this other woman behind the counter had an attitude nastier than the food. She was extremely rude to us. I've also observed her be rude to others. The plantain was hard and dry. The patties were too rigid to bite into. The rice and peas was hard and stuck together. Had a strange taste to it. To avoid getting sick, we threw it in the trash. Never going back. This place used to have a long line....I just realized there hasn't been one in...
