In a buffet setting, one shouldn't be genuinely scared of what's on offer, and, friends, I absolutely was. The buffet itself is extremely limited, with two small hot bars, one "dessert" bar that I couldn't bring myself to touch the fruit from, and the most baffling, almost assuredly illegal ice cream selection I've ever seen. It's a small deep freezer with..just open tubs of ice cream in it. Seriously, there's no way that meets food safety regulations.
If you're not blessed with the constitution of an ox, you're probably better off just avoiding the place. Especially since both items I grabbed with beef (beef with broccoli and mushroom beef) were actually chicken. Specifically ordered Schezuan Broccoli and Chicken LG. When I got home all I had in my container was Broccoli, I paid over $11.00 for Broccoli, wasn't aware they were new owners. We have been going to Happy Garden over 15yrs. We will never be back. Stay away from this restaurant. Happy Gardens rude response said it all, I have been eating schezuan steak, chicken Broccoli, for years no way would I just order Broccoli. I hadn't been here in a long time, like years. Heard they were under new management so I thought I would give them a try. The buffet was small, not a lot of options. They were out of rice. There was some empty pans that were not being restocked. Some of the food looked as though it had been sitting for awhile.
This was at 4:30 on a Friday, so prime time to get it up and going and have some fresh options on the line. Their dessert bar is awful and wouldn't eat from it. Opened containers of freezer burnt ice cream.
I probably won't give them another try just because it was so awful. I can't justify gambling money on another unsatisfying...
