We chose this hotel because my daughter was attending an event a Miami University. This was a little bit of a drive from Miami, but the price was good and it has some nice amenities. ||At check-in, the two gentleman were extremely nice. I asked about a late check-out so I didn't have to stay in the car for three hours while my daughter finished her stuff at college. They assured me it would be fine and they could make it work. We waited a few minutes for our room to be ready and headed up. There was a small mix-up with the rooms and the gentleman from the front desk quickly came up and rectified the situation. He was very apologetic but it was no big deal. We got into our room and everything looked good. (I later discovered a seemingly used band-aid under one bed and an empty sample shampoo bottle under the bathroom counter.) The room and bathroom were clean other than that and I had no complaints. Be aware that they only provide small sample bottles for shampoo, conditioner, etc. ||I ended up having a medical emergency on the first day and was unable to experience the amenities I had looked forward to. (Pool, outdoor seating area with fire pit and pond.) This was very disappointing to me. I spent the entire second day alone in the hotel room and all I wanted was an ice cold drink but the ice machine on our floor was down all day. I was unable to make the walk to the first floor for ice. ||We made it to breakfast once and it was amazing. There were a lot of options for food and drinks. Everything we tried was very good and fresh. The breakfast attendant was great and checked in with the patrons occasionally. Everything was kept stocked throughout and new food options were even being added while we were there.||The hotel is in a good area and close to a lot of restaurants and smaller stores. We were able to easily find dinner and a store to buy some snacks for our stay. ||I ended up messaging to verify my late check-out and did not get a response in time so I just checked out at 6:30 AM with my daughter. They did eventually respond saying I could check out at 11:30, but we had already left by that time.||Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. The rooms and common areas are clean. Breakfast is great. Staff is great. I just wish I had been able to try out the pool and outside sitting area. Would...
Read moreAt best this location would maybe be 4 stars... if nothing was wrong. I'm saving the wost for last... (Eww) Only 1 elevator, and it was needing maintenance, broken buttons, it sagged about a half inch when walked into. There was hair on the shower walls. Something in the room made our allergies go crazy, which I think I know what that was, more on that to follow. My 11 year old daughter ran ahead and jumped right into the pool, I get in the pool room and it looked like someone dumped a gallon of milk in it, it could have been the pH was off and made it cloudy, but it could be a bacterial overgrowth. So she was disappointed and had to immediately get out. She also complained of a upset stomach that night and the next day. Bacteria? Maybe. All common areas were about °80. All of that above knocked it from the starting 5 stars down to 2. Now the allergy issue. BED BUGS! Yeah bed bugs. At around 3 AM I found the 1st, 5 total we're found. At the time the hotel was full, and the only other I could find online was a hour away, and we had to clean our stuff before we went or we'd just take them with us. So we sprayed our stuff with tea tree oil to try to avoid hitch hikers, and had to go that morning and spend $200 on new clothes for all of us. Had to wash and dry everything including our bags at a laundromat. None looked to have eggs so that was a plus. The only thing to keep me from saying 0 stars is the desk clerk who I think was a manager of some capacity didn't charge us for the room. She was really nice, but those bugs were old enough that it should have been known that they were there. I did inspect the place as I always do but I didn't see evidence that they were there. Now, there is a possibility that they were from the previous guest and they failed to clean it properly. It was a 4 hour inconvenience to clean up our stuff and it also cost money to buy clothes for all of us, and delayed orlur departure. As many times as I have stayed at a hotel this is the 1st time I have ever seen a bed bug in a room. I'm guessing the heat was to attempt to contain a known infestation, I don't know. And I have pictures of them to prove it. Oh, and there was a fire exit sign pointing toward the elevator, I'm pretty sure that's not a...
Read moreWe had two separate reservations, one for Thursday night and one for Friday and Saturday nights. When we checked in on Thursday night we asked he clerk to make sure that they switched us in the morning to the new reservation. She said yes I see it right here and then said she would put it in the notebook for the night auditor. Got up Friday morning and went to Cincinnati for our sight seeing, all good. Got up Saturday morning and left for the softball tournament that we were there for the weekend for and my phone rings, it’s the hotel. They tell me that we don’t have a reservation for us for Friday or Saturday night and we need to come back and vacate the room. The hotel was sold out and had been for weeks, so there are no rooms to trade us to. My question was why did no one call me and tell me this on Friday so I could have found another place to go to on Saturday night? They said they didn’t see us Friday! You were capable of calling me Saturday to get my belongings, so why not on Friday to let me know there was a problem. Unfortunately I could not find my confirmation number to show them, lesson learned to put it in my phone. So we had to pack up our room and leave. Went to check out and I did not get one apology or I’m sorry from the general manager. They checked me out and asked if I wanted a receipt. Of course I did and good thing I did. They were charging me $46.78 more for the room the second night that I had reserved with the group rate. Not only were the beds, floors and bathrooms dirty but our friends had to take their comforter to the front desk to be replaced as it and the wall in their room had blood on them. We did enjoy the courtyard and fire pit on Friday night. Good thing the tournament is in Columbus next year so we don’t have to...
