Had a chance to travel back home to Arkansas this past week with my girlfriend, and we wound up spending Tuesday night in Harrison. We stumbled into Flavors of Louisiana, first time diners. Clean and friendly, was immediately impressed by the service offered by Amanda, as well as a full history of the restaurant, back story of recipes and how their gator meet is sourced from Hammond, LA. Superb service. My lady had a blackened chicken salad, very large and tasty. I had a combo platter that offered jambalaya, seafood gumbo, and a small crawfish / crab pie, with a small bowl of beans. Plenty of great tasting food. We were NOT planning on dessert, but Amanda talked us into some beignets. So simple, so tasty, piping hot out of the fryer and dusted with powdered sugar--served with honey or caramel. Very happy to have found this Louisiana restaurant in Harrison, and the superb service offered in this family run business. Lookin forward to a return visit! ...
Read moreWe've been three times. The food is adequate but nothing to write home about. The staff is friendly. But each time the experience takes longer and longer. The first time It took nearly 45 minutes to get my banana pudding. Today, it took 10 minutes to get our order taken, then I set a timer. 38 minutes to get 3 eggs over medium some grits and a biscuit. Not to mention the menu was unclear as to what I would get. I thought "*toast or biscuit, pancake, gravy(upgrade to sausage gravy for $1)" meant I was going to select toast or biscuit and decide if I wanted to upgrade the gravy. Apparently you only get one. Who wants gravy without a biscuit? It's clean and cute enough, though as with most restaurants they don't understand that the feet on the tables are adjustable so you don't have to feel like you're eating off of a teeter totter. Read moreI walked in with no in my heart and cobbler on my mind.
Once we were greeted by the friendly staff, I saw the delicacies they had to offer, my heart swelled with positivity and my stomach satisfied with a savory meal such that I could only attained in creole country itself, the kitchen tried to upgrade my meal once the salad was delayed, the drinks kept coming until I had to turn them down. River, our waiter, was great and perfect level of charismatic, taking more than a casual interest in us. On top of all this, the ownership was on the floor taking care of business with an interest. Given the opportunity, I would go out of my way to...
