While I typically refrain from writing reviews, our recent experience at The 1886 left a lasting impression that I feel compelled to share.
Arriving promptly at 5:30, we managed to secure a table before the rush, only to witness the place fill up swiftly, setting the tone for the evening.
Staff Overwhelmed: As the restaurant reached its peak, our waitress seemed to be stretched thin, resulting in a noticeable decline in service quality. I was never asked for a second drink or water with my meal.
Lack of Wine Alternatives: A simple request for a Cabernet was met with the news that they were out. Unfortunately, the waitress failed to suggest alternatives or provide guidance on comparable options, leaving us in the dark. My wife simply asked for water instead.
Limited Availability: It wasn't just us; we overheard two neighboring tables receiving the same disappointing news about items being unavailable.
Issues with the cancelled Wine order: To our surprise, the Cabernet my wife initially requested, priced at $7.5 per glass on the menu, however, it mysteriously appeared on the bill as $9, even though she had opted for water instead. A confusing and unwelcome discrepancy.
Extended Wait Times: The time elapsed from our entrance to the arrival of our meals exceeded an hour, making us question the efficiency of their kitchen and overall service.
Questionable Value: My dish, consisted of a small grilled chicken breast (seemingly ½ of a normal breast), came with a hefty price tag of $18, leaving me questioning the restaurant's sense of value.
Unresponsive Service: When we attempted to address the wine billed in error with our waitress, she claimed she couldn't attend to us at that time as she was waiting at the bar to engage in a conversation with the bartender. I got up from our table walked over to where the waitress was standing and said; "We didn't get the wine that was on our bill". This took a whole 10 seconds!
In sharing this feedback, my intention is to provide an honest account of our experience at The 1886. It's evident that improvements in service, communication, and overall customer experience are needed to enhance the reputation of this establishment. I believe potential patrons deserve to be aware of the potential challenges they...
Read moreWe walked in at 11am. Zero ppl in the restaurant. Our service was horrible. We sat down and a cook was at thrbbar complaining he wasn't feeling good and a manager telling him to drink a beer, he's got to pull it together. The cook blew his nose and we didn't see him wash his hands. He could have back in the kitchen. But that's not what you want to see to start. We ordered an appetizers of chips & dip. After having to ask the server where our appetizer was at 11:28, 28minutes after ordering, she said "the cook isnt feeling well and is sick, so the manager went to help him" its coming. So now we know the food is being cooked by a guy thats sick. Gross. The cook ended up leaving in the middle of our meal, walked out in front of us. A woman came to pick him up. They werent shy that he was sick and not feeling good as they handed us our food. Double gross.
The appetizer came out with our meal, didnt even offer to discount it and it wasnt even cooked well. The cheeses were overly chunky and over cooked cheese, wasnt drippy at all.
My goats cheese salad was the size of a side salad-- for $18! I ordered added chicken and was given 7 TINY pieces of chicken breast. You can see the tiny size of it here. The goat cheese wheels were smaller than my palms & they consume the limited salad.
My husband got a chicken wrap and the wrap was burnt. Considering there were zero people in the restaurant, you'd think they would provide top notch service AND then youd think they would apologize for the slow service.
The bathroom was disgusting. Smelled, had poop water, and was dirty.
I seriously was shocked the manager didn't come apologize or discount for the appetizer and food that took 45min to arrive by a sick cook. It is a cool location and restaurant which is why I gave thr atmopshere 2 stars-but would not recommend based off of our food...
Read moreWe had high hopes because of how expensive it was! You can definitely tell they make everything as cheap as they can and focus more on the bar. We spent a good amount of money on food and let me tell you… it was very mediocre. First for appetizers we had the pulled pork tacos (whatever they were named) and this was the best thing they made out of all of the food we ordered. Worst thing about the tacos is the meat tasted like baked old dry burnt ends that had been frozen in a sweet baby Rays bbq sauce and heated up day of order. The crunch of the outside was the nicest part. I also ordered the pretzel bites which was literally two pretzel sticks cut up with a knife and some velveta white queso. For as being as expensive as it was I expected a few more pretzels. For the entree my husband got the burger that was supposed to be on the donut. Well it didn’t come on the donut, and the burger was still mooing in the center. It was topped with the dry burnt ends that are drowning in sauce. My husband ended up getting sick from it that night and threw it all back up. I got the chicken Parmesan and it tasted freezer burnt and overly broiled for some reason? The linguine was suuuuuuper Al dente and the sauce was bland and very runny. I would say if you’re looking to go somewhere for a pleasant eating experience… it’s not here. I can without a doubt say it was a bad experience. And for 80...
