I have been coming here for over a decade- the best food, prices, and service ever- the owner has always been gracious and a pleasure to talk to. This Morning I ordered a BB drove 15 minutes one way at 7:30- am to get it. Got it and it was a completely different order I called and told them and the son Said no problem just bring it back they’ll make me another. I informed him that I could not just come back down there since it is not right around the corner, anyway- I drive back at 12:30 they gave me my order I asked were they going to comp me the girl said she would have to ask her husband since they were giving me the order I was picking up free and that I didn’t have to pay for it. I informed her that they were not giving me anything free at that point since I already paid for it and was given a completely different order. After some mumbling from the son/husband in front of the customers this dude reached in his pocket pulled out a wad of dollars peeled off a $20 and dropped it on the counter and told me to have a nice day. That was some crazy sh—I guess he figured I’m just one person one customer and my business ain’t sh— however what you do and how you behave and your total disregard for me as a paying customer will stay around you can’t be that nasty and convince folks it’s a side job- that’s who this dude is. Bottom line you gave me the incorrect order inconvenienced me and then showed me the level of disrespect you have for yourself as a business owner. Your mother- the reason why so many people continue to frequent this place would have had more grace and comped the breakfast. My last time here and I would not recommend anyone else. There have been at least three other times I got the wrong food- sausage instead of bacon which I hate and won’t eat, pancakes instead of French toast which I had to toss and fried instead of scrambled- but you know I just took those in cause I understand mistakes happen especially when they get really busy - and besides I would not drive all the way there and back again for one part of my meal- so I never mentioned it- BUT a completely different order- stuff I don’t even...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting from out of town, and lodging in the area. It was Thanksgiving Day and we were searching for breakfast; we came across ‘Ashley’s Restaurant’. Thankfully, when we called to confirm business hours, they were open. We walked in and were greeted by a warm cook and waitress who expressed we can sit at the bar or an available booth. But before sitting, we happened to notice an old, black and white photo of a beautiful woman on the wall. The menu was filled with options and exceptional pricing. Amongst the cook and waitress, was a tablebuster who was cleaning the tables and an Old Woman. The Old Woman was pacing back and forth, adding to the flow of business. As she was caring two containers of cream to the cooler, she began walking back towards our direction and we met eyes with the Old Woman. My husband ask, “Are you Ashley?” The Old Woman responded, “Yes, I am Ashley.” During the time in which our food was being prepared, Ashley explained that is a native of Greece and moved here to Hartford, CT in 1960, at 24 years old and knowing little English but had a desire to continue her business in the United States. During the time we were speaking with Ashley, we learned how passionate, caring, and loving she was in her business and food. We then received our food. We ate….happily. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was bliss. We left having been full and knowing the beautiful story of a woman whose passion showed spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Visit Ashley’s Restaurant, you will not regret having experienced food...

Dining in at Ashley's is a bit like if Jack Bauer were on Cheers.
The atmosphere is fast-paced and a little chaotic but with the hometown feeling of familiarity. The food is nothing extraordinary, standard American breakfast - it's a diner but it doesn't seem to front itself as anything more than what it is. As an out-of-towner I get the immediate impression it's a neighborhood favorite, but if you're a tourist - you may be expecting something very different from a highly rated diner in the heart of Hartford. I see a lot of negative reviews that mention customer service - I recon this has to do with expectations. Don't expect full table service - this is a quick-order place that honestly doesn't really do table service. If you need something you gotta just not be shy and ask, you just can't expect table service.
Very small on the inside, a handful of booths and a bar to sit at (no alcohol on the menu). The staff is incredibly hard working and it clearly giving it everything they've got - I was there on a server's first day but he still killed it. (I see you white buzz-cut man!)
Only four stars because cleanliness is something to be desired - the kitchen is open and quite clean, my utensils were delivered in hot water and the chef wore gloves zd but the staff has never seen a mask at the height of a global...
