We chose to go to this place based on the great reviews for a late mother's day get together with my mom and had pedicure scheduled after. We got there a little after 9 and ordered around 9:20. Around 9:45 someone came out (possibly the owner) and said "it will just be a little while longer" and we were fine with that because we still had time because our appointments were at 10:30 right across the street. Our waitress came by a few times after to let us know our "food will be right up" or "it will just be a few more minutes". In the meantime, tables that came in after us were getting served their food and turning over. At 10:15, I went to the counter to let them know we were at the point we could not wait any longer. They told us our food was ready and started bringing it out but our girls had ordered pancakes and they were not ready yet. I asked them to box them to go.
In am a reasonable person and understand sometimes stuff can happen. I was not upset at that point because they had been really nice about it up until that point. I just wanted to make sure we got to our pedicure appointments on time. But what did make me upset enough to now post about this experience was when the person (that I am assuming was the owner) came out and said "Why didn't you tell me you had 10:30 appointments when I first came out to tell you your food was going to be a while longer?" I told her it was because I didn't expect it to mean it would take another 45-60 minutes at that point. To which she responded "Well, I am short a cook and you should have mentioned that" and then she stormed off.
I am rating it a 2 because I am guessing it was a one off based on other good reviews abiut food and service. But I was appalled when she came out to specifically blame us (as if we caused the delays or were being unreasonable) without so much as an apology. We were there for an hour and a half and I know they felt that it was taking too long too because I heard our waitress constantly following up to ask the kitchen what was the status of table 4's order. If they were transparent with us about what the issue was causing the delay I would have informed them about our appointments and then we could have figured out if we needed to cancel or...
Read moreFiancé and I stopped here for the first time today and were welcomed in to a cozy little place, Heidi the owner greeted us right away with suggestions on the (quite extensive) menu. Many options to choose from and options to suite any taste at that. We spent some time deciding things to pick out, normally our first time we’ll order a bunch of items and just share everything just to get a feel for the cooking style. Most everything here is made from scratch, so it does take a little longer to get your food, but that’s to be expected when food is cooked fresh at any sit down eatery. We ordered the chorizo bowl, the hearty bowl, the soup and sandwich combo (grilled cheese sandwich and creamy tomato soup), cinnamon roll pancakes with sausage. For drinks we ordered the cold brew coffee with vanilla and cream, an iced chai tea and an orange juice.
The bowls were served in mini iron skillets with your choice of toast, plenty of protein, potatoes were cooked perfectly as well as the eggs on top. The chorizo had the perfect amount of heat, the toast was the perfect crisp and well buttered. Our pancakes were fluffy inside with a very nice caramelization on the outside, the icing was thicker and sweet with great taste. Our surprise favorite was the tomato soup and grilled cheese, the homemade tomato soup was thick and creamy and was down right one of the best bowls of tomato soup we’ve ever had, it tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned with great consistency and mouth feel. The grilled cheese was gooey inside and crispy chewy on the outside and perfect for dunking into the soup, both married together to make our surprise favorite dish there today. I could eat it all morning noon and night.
The owner Heidi made a point to ask us how our meal was towards the end and have a great conversation with us about supporting local businesses like we usually do, the staff was great and so was Heidi. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, a great selection of coffees or a great homemade breakfast make sure to stop in even if you’re on the go. You will not be disappointed. It’s right across from Walgreens in Hartland.
We’ve found a new favorite local eatery for sure and they serve breakfast all day for us late risers. We will definitely be back...
Read moreWorst customer service ever. Ruined Mother’s Day brunch. Placed a $100 prepaid online pick up order. Called to confirm it ahead of time. Get there to pick up and they never started it. Asked for refund and got the run around from management. Completely ruined Mother’s Day.
Follow up to owner response: hi Heidi, you had an hour to talk to me while I sat in the restaurant waiting and you continued to make up excuses. You first said the order was running behind, then came out a half hour later and said they never started it. Then claimed you didn’t have the order at all. The lies never stopped. I sat patiently and waited for an hour. While waiting you had multiple other customers complaining as well. One woman walked up and yelled “I’ve been sitting here with a family of 5 for 90 minutes and we’re starving.” Your staff were rude to her in response. You then refused to refund and when I called after leaving and asked for a refund, you said the registers were too busy and you’d do it later. I gave you multiple chances to talk and you did not offer to remedy much of anything. You are lying in a public review to cover for yourself and that’s super unfortunate and adds to the awful experience. I waited in the restaurant for an hour after paying and calling ahead and you claim my order didn’t go through yet when you finally refunded the order after I had to call twice and demand it, my order was magically in your system for you to refund. Your response is untruthful and that’s sad for you guys, do better.
Other reasons we’d never go back: -your daughters were arguing with your husband at the register in front of customers -your staff at one point said “we can’t do this, we weren’t ready for this” -you tried everything to not refund me -you lied in person and again now, bad look Heidi -our homemade breakfast was...
