Found this place because Kilties Drive-in down the road only takes cash. The previous reviews and images looked good. So we gave it a try. First impressions weren't good. It seemed like the place was being ran/operated by mostly teenagers, and the one lady that was obviously in charge, wasn't much older. The reason I'm pointing out this out, the age, is the state of the restaurant, and how it reflected being ran by mostly people that didn't care much.
The guy that took our order already had one food out the door, and seemed like he couldn't wait to get out of there. Not the friendly welcome you'd hope from a small dinner, instead we got a, "what'da-ya want?" The soda machine looked about as old as me and had the water stains and broken parts to prove it. The bathroom wasn't... "awful", but there was a sign that said all employees must wash their hands, meaning this is the same bathroom the employees use. And there wasn't any soap, so you know they weren't washing their hands.
We ordered a Chicago style hotdog, gyro, crispy chicken wrap, Cheeseburger, and mac n cheese bites. Food was ok, but for the prices they are charging, and the quality of the food you are getting (along with the service and cleanliness of the dinner) it's overpriced compared to what you're going to get from all the other mom/pop burger custard stands out there.
I'd love to give these small place great reviews, as I find them important to our small businesses, but they need to step up the service, clean up the restaurant (it didn't just look worn and stained, if felt dirty), and stop pre-cooking the food and letting it sit. Also, they had a good idea, putting picnic tables outside for people who didn't want to dine inside, however, they didn't seal the pine, they just painted it blue. All the pine sap bled through the paint, and we found ourselves sitting our butts, food baskets, and arms in pine tar before we realized what had happened.
I will say that the custard was good. I would go...
Read moreTonight was a dad & boys' night out, and we knew exactly what we wanted—burgers and frozen custard! Thanks to a warm invite from Ylli at Sweet Dreams, we decided to drop by and check out their offerings. And are we glad we did! The burgers, hot dogs, and custard were all fantastic. It’s always a treat to visit locally owned gems and hear directly from the owners about their history and passion for the business.
Here’s what we ordered tonight: Mac Attack Burger Western Burger Foot Long Chicago Dog A couple of Cheeseburgers And a large order of their Hand Cut Fries
The burgers were juicy and cooked just right. The BBQ sauce on the Mac Attack and Western Burgers added a sweet and tangy touch. The Chicago Dog was massive and topped with all the classic fixings—delicious!
Of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert! The frozen custard was a huge hit and did I mention they have a game room.
Here’s what we had: -Single Scoop of Vanilla Chocolate Twist with Marshmallow Fluff and Butterfinger PB Lovers Sundae Single Scoop of Vanilla Chocolate Twist with Kit Kat Single Scoop of Vanilla with Peanut Butter - my absolute favorite combo.
Sweet Dreams has two locations for you to check out—one in Hartland and a brand-new spot in Waukesha. If you haven't visited yet, I highly recommend stopping by. You won’t regret it!

Being in the area I always associated this spot with a custard shop and so-so food, but I felt like something different so I figured what the heck! I walk in feeling like a chicken sandwich, so I order a crispy one off the menu for $5.50. That seemed a little pricey to me but whatever I was already committed. I make it a combo with fries and a drink and she asks me, "do you want frozen fries or homemade?" The way she said frozen made me quickly pick their homemade fries. My total comes to just under $10. At the time that seemed pricey (at the time)
When they brought out my chicken sandwich and fries I was NOT expecting what they put in front of me. What I expected to be a flat cheap chicken breast was a huge juicy filet on an equally huge toasted bun. The toppings we're fresh and generous. The fries were also above all expectations. If you've ever been to five guys then you have an idea what the fries are like. For someone like me who loves the thick cut ho-made fries, it was heaven.
When I finished eating everything. I ordered another chicken sandwich to go. Cause when you find something that...
