My husband and I had been looking forward to trying this place bc we heard a lot of good things about it. Boy, were we disappointed! We went on a Friday evening and ended up being the only people in the restaurant. I guess that should have been a sign. You seat yourself, so no problem there, but then the waitress comes tosses the menu on the table abruptly, doesn't greet us, just "what do you want to drink" and abruptly walks away. We chose the chicken polle it says it comes with a salad, green beans and mashed potatoes and a roll. The waitress comes back with our drinks and just as abruptly, and rudely "what do you want to eat? “ . We were going to ask questions, but she left so fast we didn't even get a word out. While we were waiting on our food, my husband heads to the restroom. We could hear people laughing loudly and talking. He said it was the staff so he stopped to chat. He told them it was our first time there, and he really liked the decor. I will say the decor is cool. But, he said they just snubbed him, acted like he was being a nuisance to them, and they went back to their conversation. While he was gone, the waitress brought out the salads. They looked like they had been made for a week, and tasted like it too! They didn't ask what kind of dressing we wanted, just threw ranch on them. As soon as she brought the salads, another person dropped our food on the table. The chicken dish was over powered by sage and was not edible, the mashed potatoes were instant, cold and dry. The only good thing were the green beans. Even the roll which was not homemade, was cold, and hard. The sweet tea was bitter. The waitress never came to check on us or ask if we needed anything. Our glasses were never refilled. The next time we saw her she was slapping the bill on the table telling us to take it to the register. I finally interrupted her, and said we were wanting to order their strawberry pretzel salad. She looked at us angrily, and made a rude remark, grabbed the ticket and stomped off. When my husband went to pay our bill, the owner was at the register so he was again, making chit-chat. She tells him she just bought the restaurant less than a year ago, as is. So for those of you who used to love to eat here, prepare to be extremely disappointed! The food and service is TERRIBLE! We...
Read moreI posted a reel on my IG that shows the beautiful atmosphere of this place. It's magical. You can sit in these unique alcoves of hidden treasures. Where each nook has its own unique style and sitting...but not haughty. I love it❣️❣️❣️You feel at home and yet amongst friends. Very friendly service!!! I love that they have fresh cut fries...and that the fruit salad is actual fresh fruit. The shrimp I had was very delicious. The sweet tea was perfect...just sweet enough. The music was the best background music for me. I was dancing in my seat while my son and I hung out...the best late lunch date with him ever. I love that they don't over power you with screens...tvs...or tabletop devices. Personally, the last thing I want when I go somewhere is more screen time...ugh. Eatin' in the Attic is very well imagined❣️❣️❣️. I love that there is ample seating. Clean eclectic restrooms were a delight to see, as well. They hearken to the rest of the establishment in style and humor...all done with a twist. The lighting was very pleasant, because it wasn't sterile fluorescent or led lights in standard boring fixtures. To me there is a little of something for everyone there. I wanted to share the video here, but Google is still not up to snuff...only allowing pics....but the old cigarette machine was so cool...I remember when these were everywhere... Stop by for lunch or dinner...
Read moreThe food here is good and the services is fine. I just read a review from Bella Williams about how the food is expensive; she complained that the grilled cheese, as an example, is 3.49! Anyone who thinks that is expensive cannot be taken seriously, and likely rarely makes it out of Morgan County. The reviewer also appears to be jejune about the profit necessary to run a restaurant and keep the doors open, let alone make a living at it. Bah to the impossibly dense who have the gall to rate sans a breadth of exposure to the real world.
Now, my experience: I had a delicious OMG salad and my only complaint is that it was on an oblong plate in lieu of a bowl, which made the contents spill (somewhat) onto the table. Put that salad in a bowl, and you have a winner. The rest of the food on the menu is priced fair and is consistently tasty. The decor is fun, kitschy, and lovely. Whomever put this space together has a keen eye for creating an atmosphere you want to relax and visit in. In fact, I am going to pick up my mom in Decatur and drive her out to Hartselle so that she, too, may enjoy Cahoots and an afternoon of strolling and shopping down Main St. I spend a good deal of time in NYC, and Seattle, so my rating of Cahoots has the credibility of someone not stuck in the Hartselle,...
