Review Update: Dec 2022 - It hurts me to update my previous review of Carlo's Trattoria. I have been going to Carlo's since the 1980's and have seen many things change over the years.
We stopped at Carlo's for dinner and they were busy. We were seated into an impossibly small and uncomfortable booth where we were then ignored for quite some time. When our waitress finally did come around, we both ordered the "special of the day" which was baked ravioli, which comes with salad and garlic bread. I substituted cottage cheese for my salad.
The ravioli finally came (mine was almost devoid of sauce) and we ordered an extra side of garlic bread. The baked ravioli was good and it was time to leave. Attached is an image of our check. The "daily special" apparently was $17 per person. I was thinking $6.99 to $8.99 would have been the "special" price.
$40 for two pastas that were at a special reduced price? Again, with a tip $50 for two pasta specials with an extra garlic bread.
It appears that Carlo's Trattoria and I have finally after all of these years, come to a parting of the ways. On the days when all of the staff seems to be under 20 years old the food quality and service really suffer. There are other times when the food and service are very good but the new menu left us guessing (at least on costs).
Carlo himself has been very good and gracious to me over the years. This is in no way a personal attack on him his family or any one personally in his staff. It just seems like things have gotten out of hand since COVID and this is no longer a reasonable or sustainable option for eating out.
Please look at our attached check. . .

Read moreOh man, I really wanted to love this place! It's okay, not terrible, but not great, either. My husband ordered mozzarella sticks to start, and I know he speaks with an accent, but I didn't think it was that bad of an accent to make the server think he said "cheesy garlic bread". She said it as she was walking away and had to stop her and clarify that he actually said "mozzarella sticks". I read Carlo's story and it said his favorite dish to make was Eggplant Parmigiano, so I knew what I was going to order. Dinner entrées come with a side of soup or salad, which is said nowhere on the menu, but very easy to add, and it comes with a side of garlic bread, again, stated nowhere, but easy to add. I'm not upset about it or anything, I think that kind of information should be stated on the menu. And two of the salads are basically the same, actually. The tossed salad and house salad are the same if you add cheese to the tossed salad for $2 extra (and in doing so it's still 50 cents cheaper than the house salad. 😅) Anyways, just a few, easy things that could really go a long way. And then the eggplant wasn't actually good 😅 I took two bites and did not like the texture. Way too mushy. Not a fan. All in all, I probably will go back and try the pizza 😅 like I said, I really want to like this place, I do. I will give it another...
