Review Update: Dec 2022 - It hurts me to update my previous review of Carlo's Trattoria. I have been going to Carlo's since the 1980's and have seen many things change over the years. We stopped at Carlo's for dinner and they were busy. We were seated into an impossibly small and uncomfortable booth where we were then ignored for quite some time. When our waitress finally did come around, we both ordered the "special of the day" which was baked ravioli, which comes with salad and garlic bread. I substituted cottage cheese for my salad. The ravioli finally came (mine was almost devoid of sauce) and we ordered an extra side of garlic bread. The baked ravioli was good and it was time to leave. Attached is an image of our check. The "daily special" apparently was $17 per person. I was thinking $6.99 to $8.99 would have been the "special" price. $40 for two pastas that were at a special reduced price? Again, with a tip $50 for two pasta specials with an extra garlic bread. It appears that Carlo's Trattoria and I have finally after all of these years, come to a parting of the ways. On the days when all of the staff seems to be under 20 years old the food quality and service really suffer. There are other times when the food and service are very good but the new menu left us guessing (at least on costs). Carlo himself has been very good and gracious to me over the years. This is in no way a personal attack on him his family or any one personally in his staff. It just seems like things have gotten out of hand since COVID and this is no longer a reasonable or sustainable option for eating out. Please look at our attached check. . . Original Review: Very good marinara sauce. The Pizza can be inconsistent, but overall a better than average place to eat, with a charmy Hartville atmosphere.

Wow. We were THRILLED with our meal. In the past we hadn't had the best service or food. The food was bland and staff acted like we inconvenienced them for being there. I read similar reviews, then reviews that were the complete opposite, so I decided to try Trattoria one more time. I think they must have really taken the online feedback to heart, bc my experience was a complete 180 from before. We had lasagna, which tasted absolutely AMAZING. Only thing I would tweak would be to drain the pasta better. The wedding soup was hands down the best I've ever had. The caprese salad was delicious with fresh mozerella, and even the once tasteless garlic bread was now yummy. The meal was a bit pricey, but the portions were large so we had enough to two days of dinner. Our server was smiling, went above and beyond, and was extremely kind. I could not be happier with our experience, we will definitely be back!!

10/10 Italian food. Everything comes out hot and steaming. Their waitresses are fast and polite as can be. Definitely order a caprese salad the mozzarella is so fresh! Chicken alfredo was hands down the BEST i've ever had. The Wedding soup is fabulous and full of flavor as well. And that garlic bread done on a sourdough roll?! Knock your socks off good. Carlos's has been around hartville for decades and I can see why. Their chef cares about every detail of the food and the presentation was phenomenal. See you soon I'll be back again for sure!

We have ate in house many times with no issues, but last night we picked up on way home from work, get food home sit down to eat our 30.00 meal of 2 dinners and my "handfull" of pasta had no chicken in it with some butter - $12.00 the salad had house dressing in it which i didnt get asked what kind i wanted when i placed my order.- perfer ranch' So since we live 20 min away i call and tell them they forgot to put chicken in it and she says yes they did i said no maam there is no chicken, she says okay then just bring it back and get another very rude like i did something wrong , no im sorry's nothing. I asked for the manager to be told there wasnt one !!! Now i'm mad because of the rudeness , my 11 year old granddaughter and i go back up there and EVERY employee ( a bunch of young kids, guys with double ear piercings etc) in the place was standing there arms crossed looking at me like again i had did something wrong. I said to them 'really' your all waiting for me to come in? ok now while your all here and having nothing better to do tell me if you would pay 12.00 for that food and have to drive back up here to get it right. They said nothing , the girl slide my container of hot new food across the counter at me in no bag so when i asked for a bag so i didnt get burnt on the hot bottom she threw it at me, at this point every costumer that was eating inside was staring . Oh man, I really wanted to love this place! It's okay, not terrible, but not great, either. My husband ordered mozzarella sticks to start, and I know he speaks with an accent, but I didn't think it was that bad of an accent to make the server think he said "cheesy garlic bread". She said it as she was walking away and had to stop her and clarify that he actually said "mozzarella sticks". I read Carlo's story and it said his favorite dish to make was Eggplant Parmigiano, so I knew what I was going to order. Dinner entrées come with a side of soup or salad, which is said nowhere on the menu, but very easy to add, and it comes with a side of garlic bread, again, stated nowhere, but easy to add. I'm not upset about it or anything, I think that kind of information should be stated on the menu. And two of the salads are basically the same, actually. The tossed salad and house salad are the same if you add cheese to the tossed salad for $2 extra (and in doing so it's still 50 cents cheaper than the house salad. 😅) Anyways, just a few, easy things that could really go a long way. And then the eggplant wasn't actually good 😅 I took two bites and did not like the texture. Way too mushy. Not a fan. All in all, I probably will go back and try the pizza 😅 like I said, I really want to like this place, I do. I will give it another...
