Spiral Pizza — Restaurant in Hastings

Sooo... While we were excited to try Spiral Pizza for the first time, after we were in the area and had read the many, many positive reviews, I have to say that i was not entirely satisfied with something that happened when we picked up the order of a small Spiral Special and 8 piece broasted chicken. Called to order the above 2 items, only when i ordered the pizza, i asked for a bit light on the sausage. I get there to pick up, and as I'm paying, i see the words, "lite red sauce" scribbled on receipt. So i say, "noooo, i requested light sausage, we love sauce... 🥺" The guy at register just stares at me blankly, then walks away with the receipt. Then some cross-eyed kid comes over and says, "oh, i misread the ticket and thought it said light red sauce, didn't realize it said light sausage. My bad," and he simply walked away. No solution, no side of red sauce to maybe take with us, no offer to maybe remake it or anything, just typical Millennial behavior, which is to be oblivious and not care at all about customer service or anything resembling it... I guess had he not added, "my bad," and walked away, i may have had less, or even no issue. But the my bad was what pushed it over the line. So we went home and ate some AWESOME chicken, and an admittedly great little pizza, sans pizza sauce, which wasn't optimal, but we were hungry. More like hangry... *Update: the owners responded to my last review, and graciously offered a solid discount if we would come back and try them again. We obliged, and I'm pretty sure we got the exact same items, which were much, much better this time around! We sincerely appreciate the kind gesture, and the owners' willingness to go above and beyond to retain our business, which is exactly what will happen! Thanks again, guys, we really enjoyed our last meal, and as promised, here's your updated...

Pretty good pizza overall. Got a medium "Spiral Special". Pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions, and cheddar. Left off the celery..celery?? Not a big fan of the crust, but it wasn't really bad. Your typical Minnesota/midwest cracker style crust - Thin, crispy, little flavor, a touch chewy in the center. But it was cooked perfectly with just a tiny touch of char on the edge - it does the job as a topping delivery device. Speaking of which, the toppings were quite good. Pepperoni was flavorful and a cut above most, sausage didn't seem to be the prefab stuff you get everywhere else, peppers and onions were very fresh and tasty. Cheese was good quality and plentiful but not overwhelming - perfectly portioned. The sauce surprised me. It was pretty "tomatoey", but in a good way. Too many pizza places overwhelm the sauce with way too much spice, sugar, salt, etc in an attempt to be different. This tomato-based sauce tasted like, well, actual tomatoes with a hint of spice. Impressive. Really liked it. Perfect portion of sauce, too. Ordered for carry-out; was quoted 20 minutes. Pizza was done in exactly 20 minutes as promised. Nice! Price wasn't cheap - $19.25 for my 12 inch medium pie - but not totally out of line with other mom-and-pop pizza joints. Make this pie on a good, flavorful hand-tossed type dough, or better yet, in deep dish style, and hold the line on the price, and I would have given 5 stars. Still a good pizza. I would...

First time eating here I was looking for a mom and pop place or type of pizza place that still cut them in squares and give you that greasy good pizza and this place delivered if I can give them a scale of 1 to 10 I would probably have to take it off the scale give them a 20 I love everything about it you go in and it's a carry-out Place only which is cool but you know you get your pizza you want to go home or whatever. they do deliver but we went picked it up it was great the cheese was good the sausage was excellent and the hamburger was tasty crust loved it everything about it me and the kids loved it so I would definitely go back to them and everybody who told me about it I will also do the same to anybody that's looking for a good pizza place in...
