I really wish that a small minority of the staff there werenât visibly annoyed by my presence the vast majority of the time they are there when I am, too. Itâs shocking to me honestly, considering the overall vibe of the place is definitely positive - which my experience mostly has been positive over the years.
However, in the last few months Iâve done 4 trade ins (all mtg, and each relatively small âstacksâ of no more than 25 cards each time). 2 with employee A, and 2 with employee B. Both times with Employee A, they were, and always seem to be, extremely nice the whole time and basically as professional as you can be in the TCG/LGS business. However, Employee B both times came off pretty standoffish, made it seem like whatever cards I had probably werenât anything they would even take (why even say something close to that?), and was just pretty rude overall. BUT, what sent me over the edge to write this, was that while going through my teeny tiny stack of cards, they were angrily muttering about wasting their time, and stuff like that. (I was behind the main desk, looking at the PokĂ©mon card singles case, so idk if they realized I was within earshot, but whatever).
Anyway, this was way longer than I intended. But my point in all of this is that Iâm now at the point where Iâd rather not even bother bringing another trade in in to this location, because why would anyone want to when theyâll just be treated like youâre a burden/unwanted? Itâs far easier to drive a little further out of the way to the LGS in a neighboring town (Rosemount), where I know thatâd never happen. PS - they give way better value in trade ins, and their prices on both singles and sealed are much more accurate...
Read moreSuch a unique experience and seriously nostalgic place. I havent been to a place like this since red dragon or the comic shop by lake Nacomis in mpls long long ago. I brought in some games to test the experience and the fairness. Now I tried to hit Andrew categories to really be fair. I brought in Xbox 360, Xbox one and PS5 games. Now on the phone I was told they didn't take PS5 games. However, when I got there the gentleman said he would gladly take a look and try to make me a fair offer. Well... I was actually extremely pleased as when I took them to gamestop the offer was ridiculous and truly a rip off. Look, I'm not a guru by any means and in no manner have I been asked, paid or offered anything to write this. I strive to provide fair and honest reviews, especially when they are a place that has little notice. This establishment gets a 10* of 5 because they offer a special place to play, learn, laugh, nerd/geek out and the staff and coffee is wonderful. Yes they sell awesome coffee too. . . Seriously. Get to downtown Hastings and check it out. Board games for all ages, Catan, MtG, Pokemon, etc, etc, etc.. comics video games (classic and new) ... need I say more!?!? Photos to be added soon! Off of 2nd street by the...
Read moreAmazing owners, friendly staff, great prices and a place to hang out in Hastings that is open until 10pm and not a bar! No purchases required. The shop looks small when you walk in but it is packed with comic books (new & collectibles), manga, tabletop games, expansions, accessories for games, console games, console accessories, D&D books, minis and everything else you want, space to play: collectible card games, store owned tabletop games and screens to play store owned console games! Drinks, snacks and a coffee shop which is coming soon. I thought I saw everything in the store but figured I would walk around again - I had missed so many things the first time around. I am still not sure that I saw everything. I am looking forward to spending more time at the shop. Maybe taking a walk along the river to collect lots of Pokémon and hit a gym at the same time. The store really has everything. Kids can hang out and play games at no cost. If Mom or Dad need to bring a child to play there are plenty of options for them to have a drink or a bite to eat while they wait. Accessible entry to the store (ramp up, no steps). Street parking and a brand new parking deck about...
