The Dough Shack — Restaurant in Hatteras Island

The pizza was ok… 5/10. It was better than microwave or big chain pizza but definitely not worth what they charge! I had also ordered one thin crust and one hand tossed but they were identical. I specifically put in the notes for a thin crispy crust as I am not a fan of floppy pizza but did not get that. With that being said… the biggest dark spot on my experience was the lack of service. No one working the front counter just a guy that was sitting in the corner behind me. Told him I was there for Pizza which he did go and get it and I was grateful for that. As he was going to get it, I mentioned that I would like to get a dozen donuts as well considering that’s one of the things that they are known for. he proceeded to head back to the kitchen. I waited about seven or eight minutes. No one came to assist me so I walked out. I was almost back to my vehicle when someone (different person) sticks their head out the door and asked if I would like to get donuts. I simply replied that I did but not anymore. Nothing else was said as I proceeded to leave. I will definitely be trying somewhere else for pizza next time and I will gladly pick up duck donuts in...

We ordered a pizza to our campsite at the KOA after a long day of driving and setting up our camper. The delivery guy brought us our pizza and after he left we realized it was the wrong pizza. We were going to just eat it and not say anything however the lady from the Dough Shack actually called me back and asked if I was coming to pick up my pizza. I explained to her that it was supposed to be delivery but the wrong pizza had been delivered. Turns out it was a misunderstanding/mix up of orders. She apologized and spoke with the owner and they decided to have our correct pizza delivered to us as well at no charge! I thought this was awesome that the company actually called me back to find out what happened and made it right. Most places don’t even want to make it right if you call them to let them know there was a problem. I was impressed by their customer service and the pizzas were awesome, even the one with the toppings we don’t really care for. I would definitely order again and...

They close at 945pm not 10pm.First time staying this far down here and got into town a little late not knowing everything closes so early so we were elated to see we would get to eat dinner. Reviews were awesome and we were excited to try it out. We walk in at 945(OPEN sign was ON when we missed the turn the first time at like 943 and was ON at 945 when we walked in) as she’s counting money and says oh sorry we just closed and I say” oh what time is it?”A man yells from the back “945!” like I’m supposed know. I asked her if she said she knew the hours online said 10pm and she acknowledged that they did and just gave a half hearted sorry as she kept counting money.
