I have been coming here occasionally since I was a kid and was looking forward to a nice time. My cousin was someone from out of state and so I wanted to go somewhere I know I’ve had an awesome time. Well it fell short……
Food;
the food was good. But they used either the same knife or cutting board to cut fruits so they all tasted like onion. It bothered me, may not bother others.
Service/Environment;
The waiter accidentally spilled hot coffee on my cousin. I get it accidents happen. But it’s the events that happened afterwards. Utensils were forgotten and the table was wobbly so it made the whole meal annoying. For a restaurant that has been there for 10+ years we couldn’t fix or get better outside seating?
Then she brings out the bill when we were still eating…then says “here’s the bill whenever you’re ready, unless you want anything else?” How do you even ask that when you already procured the bill and gave the hint of “leave.” We didn’t make a scene when she spilled the coffee or when the utensils were forgotten so not sure why the service fell short here. I wasn’t expecting to have them let us sit there a whole hour after our food was finished but we did expect to be asked if we wanted anything else before getting the bill. Isn’t that the norm? I still tipped the waitress regardless 15%+. I am just sharing my experience so in the future perhaps we can train everyone on proper service etiquette, just the bare...
Read moreIt honestly pains me to write this review, because Kettle was our go-to Saturday breakfast spot for years. We went usually twice a month. The original team of servers were simply the best, and even though we will never know the true Hollywood story of what happened, after new ownership took over last year and we eventually heard that our two favorite servers abruptly left (after being there for a bit and continuing to serve us), we felt like something was off and we actually ran into someone we used to see at Kettle quite often, and they said it just wasn't the same anymore. Now, we recently found out that there are even NEWER owners. We decided what the heck, lets try it out again. We sadly left disappointed. Service wasn't the same, food wasn't the same, vibe wasn't the same. The service was cordial at best, when it used to be like you were welcomed into an old friend's home, with coffee being poured before you even sat down and our server jokingly yelling at us for switching up our order and throwing her for a loop. My husband's omelet, according to him, wasn't as good. What was most interesting, though, is that we used to see a lot of the same faces almost every time we went, and this last time we didn't recognize a single soul. Makes us wonder if most of the old regulars stopped going as well....
Read moreOK, I want to give this place a good review because I try to support local businesses. And this place does rake in a lot of business, so I am sure my review won't matter much and a lot of people will still go. I've been here a few times and each time I really wanted to have a better experience than the last. This time was awful, so I'm on the 3 strikes you're out rule and that's it for this place. I don't mind waiting to get a table. 20 minutes waiting is ok. No big deal. Getting seated and waiting another 20 minutes for water and coffee... I'm a little irritated, but it finally comes and we ordered our food at the same time to avoid another long wait just to order food. About 30 minutes goes by and I'm watching several people return their food because it wasn't done correctly. And mine comes and it was done as I asked, so I'm ok. But it was the blandest breakfast I've had from a restaurant in a while and definitely not worth all that waiting. And once we're finished, we waited another 30 minutes just to get the check. So disappointing. All that waiting for the most blah breakfast. I'm sure they won't miss my patronage and that's ok. I gave them 3 tries and each time was worse than the last. So...
