I initially visited the bookery when they first opened. I loved the experience and atmosphere so I recommended to my friends that we go there. When we came there wasn’t anything initially off with the experience, until we went to order our coffees. At first I was glancing at the books trusting that I wouldn’t witness blatant racism until I hear the attitude and behavior coming from the barista. I then come to stand behind my friend and suddenly the barista is nicer and can explain to my friend kindly what her drink has in it. After this visit my other friend gave the store the benefit of the doubt and decides to go with her mom. When they went in she said the atmosphere was off entirely. My friend and her mom who is also a black woman proceeded to get rude and worse behavior than the white customers in-front of them in line. Read moreThis place is amazing. Such an amazing atmosphere and a true value addition to Brookline Blvd and the community. It is attached to a plant store directly next store that is whimsical and chock full of plants, gifts, and goodies. Everyone is so friendly and the menu is perfect.
