I wanted to love this place as small bakeries are about as rare as unicorns. When my sister and I found this and read previous reviews, we decided to drive from Doylestown to check it out. The first time we went, despite the crazy claustrophobic atmosphere, we left with an assortment of pies, cookies and bars. Our families loved the pies, so we thought we had found a gem. The second time we made the trip, we had bad service and left without one of the items that we had ordered/purchased. We were on the fence about how it was handled until the owner or perhaps manager reached out, apologized and mailed us a small gift card. The fact that she called and followed up is what made us try it again. We went a third time to buy more pies and other baked goods that have had positive reviews….it was all underwhelming and not as good as that first time we had the pie. We went last weekend, during what was an incredibly hectic weekend due to the Jewish holiday, which we forgot about and had the worst service! When we drove back home to try the baked goods, the Jewish Apple cake that we bought was undercooked. The entire cake was inedible and disgusting. There was globs of raw dough that when you sliced the cake, smeared on the knife and your fingers. When I reached out to the bakery house about the undercooked cake. I was told that the manager would reach out to me and follow up. The girl who answered the phone was kind and said that he would be back Tuesday and would want to know about it. I even shared with the girl that I had wrapped and saved a couple slices for them to see as I did not want to save the entire cake. Needless to say, the week passed as did the wknd and now Monday evening I am leaving review. My family is willing to drive miles and spend@ $50 dollars per cake or pie if it is delicious. This is not about personal taste, if the product is so raw that you can taste the grainy flour, you would expect a phone call if nothing else. At this point with the lack of customer service and cost, I would happily pay people $50 to not go and waste their time or money….find another place

I ordered a chocolate cake with the frosted buttercream icing for my son's 9th birthday. I anticipated the cake to be outstanding since my employer only uses Bakery House for years now. That being said the cake was fabulous. However my customer service experience was sadly the worst. I opened the box shortly before the party and the name was misspelled. I called and felt like I was just dismissed. The women I spoke to which I did not get a name apologized, and said it was their policy that they don't close a cake box until it's looked at by the customer. That did not happen although she said its their policy so clearly I was wrong! The bakery was very busy and I double checked with my cousin who picked up that she was given the box which was triple taped. Mistakes happen, but be accountable. I expected something to happen to correct this but I was only rushed off the phone. I will recommend the cake but will also share my experience if asked. Very disappointed.

Beyond a doubt they have phenomenal products. I could give a five star review on each item. Quality, Flavor and Presentation beyond compare. Now fast forward to today, Sunday, 8/31 when I went in to pick up my order. There were no regulars working the front of store and the kids who were - were clueless!!!!! Couldn’t find orders, didn’t know the flavors of items and not too quick on figuring out change. Very frustrating!!! However, my bigger complaint is in the “tray” of their wonderful bars. I paid $32.00 for 5 bars cut in half. Absolutely nuts that each triangle piece was $3.20. Really???? May rethink what I buy there. The cake I ordered was simply phenomenal and elegant and delicious!!! Back to another good review: their homemade granola and their chicken salad is amazing. Excellent cookies like Grandma made. A loyal but very disappointed customer today. John B

I would strongly recommend not choosing The Bakery House for any of your custom cake orders (i.e. would not recommend ordering a birthday cake, wedding cake, etc.). Do not be surprised when they over charge you for decorations and give you a final quote and then tack an extra $25-40 on to the price. Oh and don’t forget they’ll also forget that they already charged your credit card for the required $100 deposit and re-charge you again.

I gave them a custom cake order and requested that it doesn’t look like a bridal shower cake but a baby shower cake and to incorporate baby shower design elements similar to the sugar candies they add to their cakes. They insisted that the decorator would get in touch with me directly and I could work out the details with her. I called several times after dropping off my order and never heard back from the decorator but rather got an email request that my $100 deposit needed to be in ASAP or else my order would not be processed. Thus I called in again and made it very clear that I wanted baby shower decorations on my cake similar to the ones they placed on their cupcakes. They assured me that they had everything covered and quoted me via email $200 for the two tier cake and $50 for the decorations for a total of $250 and took my $100 deposit over the phone. We then came in on Saturday to proof our cake 1 day prior to the our cake pick-up date. The fondant bow that was supposed to be placed on the cake was about 3X's larger than the bow illustrated in the picture I provided them and there were no 'baby' design elements added to the cake and looked like a quintessential bridal shower cake (the complete opposite of what I instructed). The decorator Collen appeared very annoyed and short with us and let out a huge sigh and went back upstairs to get some additional decor. She came back down with little sugar candy. Please not that thehe sugar candy decorations she added to our cake can be found on Amazon for approximately $5 for a pack of 12 or 24 count. After she added the sugar candy decor the cake looked MUCH better. So we approved the cake and asked if there was anything else and they stated no and so we told them we'd be back in the morning to pick up the cake. Sunday my aunt came back in the morning to pick up the cake and was charged $252.95. She thought that my deposit of $100 was only used as a 'hold' and that I wasn't actually charged. Long and behold I was charged $100 for the deposit a few days earlier on Thursday in addition to the $252.95 she was charged on Sunday. Thus the total of the cake came to $352.95 even though my written quote stated total of $250.

I attempted to call the manager multiple times throughout this week and was then informed in a voicemail that they would be a 'courtesy refund' of $75 even though they overcharged us by over $100. After multiple days of arguing back and forth with Kelly she rudely agreed to refund me by $100 and was insulted by me calling their business fraudulent and deceptive. She also asserted that the little sugar candies they added to our cake should have cost us an additional $40 and that they informed us of this even though they NEVER did!

Bottom line is please stay away and read the negative complaints that depict the very same experience in their reviews. The amount of frustration and agony this bakery caused us was not...

I was referred to this bakery by one of my employees. I have been going there for 2 years now. My very first encounter was not met by a pleasant employee providing attention but rather a young teenager who could care less about my experience. I ignored the signal because I needed a birthday cake. When I picked up the cake, it was NOT what I communicated and I was met with an attitude from the person who helped me and I could read the verbal expressions from the person she took the cake to. The correction was made. I went there again 11/8/21 for another birthday cake and again was met with inpatient service from another young teenager who again could care less about my order or the reputation of the establishment. She went to the back to speak with someone and then the owner. I ordered an 8” cake with a 6”cake on top (tier cake). If I would have ordered both cakes separately, it would have not come to $200.00. I could not get a clear explanation of the bill and was told I had to pay for the die color which I could not get a price for. Because it was at the last minute for me to get a cake, I gave my credit card. I realized I did not receive my order receipt to communicate what I wanted with a breakdown of the charges. I only received the receipt that was charged to my credit card. This will be the LAST time I will go to this place. The owner needs to be more observant of her front staff and coach on customer service. Her front staff is the first line of contact with customers and would damage her reputation. After reading through comments from other buyers, many felt the same that I’ve experienced and I see the customer service...
