We had dinner here during the week, and we enjoyed it so much we came back for lunch today.
We had the veggie fajitas, which is fresh and delicious - the zucchini and spinach in that dish are really nice. We also had the chiles rellenos with shredded chicken. These are not your typical stuffed pepper - it's an open-faced version, and they are super simple with just the peppers, shredded chicken and a great cheese sauce on top. When we came for dinner, we got a quesadilla rellena, which is different and smaller from the more common flat/big version (this is not a criticism - it says on the menu that it's a 7" tortilla). I've never had this style of quesadilla with beef tips, and it was good and worth a try.
We had guacamole both times. The "fresh guacamole" appetizer is big and was way too much for the us, so the second time we got the version for two (they have 3 sizes of guacamole), which was great and the right size.
Finally, the house salsa wasn't an afterthought. It is super flavorful and fresh tasting, and I added it to many parts of my meal.

Read moreWell I’ll start here…we got to Xolo taqueria & tequila bar at 8:21 and the host told us that they couldn’t serve us food because they stopped serving food at 8:30. We didn’t even put up a fight that we had 9min left on the clock to order. We pivoted, and found Don mezcal in Bryn Mawr and was GLAD we did. The food is sooooooo much better than Xolo. Wow!!! We didn’t even know that they were in the neighborhood. By far the best Mexican cuisine in LM. The restaurant is new and clean. The food is fresh and authentic. The service was kind and not rushed. Out with the old and in with new. Oh and let me mention they too closed at 9 and allowed us to sit and eat at 8:30pm. Thank you Don Mezcal. By far the best Mexican cuisine in Lower...
Read moreAte here for the first time. Food was across the board delicious. The salsa & chips were very good. I had the tasty crab burrito. My lovely companera ordered the sizzling Hawaiian fajita (a spectacle!). The complimentary margueritas were nice as well. It was just a little pricier than the average Mexican restaurant but then again, it was far from average. The decor was pleasant, homey but clean and well appointed. The day of the dead skulls on the walls of the restroom were very cool. Must also mention our waiter, who was friendly & efficient. Will return and maybe this time bring...
