Tried this coffee shop for the first time. Ordered an Americano (hot) with an extra shot of espresso (3 instead of 2) for dine-in. My wife and daughter got their drinks quickly in nice coffee mugs but mine never came. Several parties of people who ordered after us all got their drinks while I’m still waiting at our table. I go to up to the counter and let them know I never got my Americano with an extra shot. They then make my drink and give it to me in a to-go cup. No worries, finally got my coffee!
Sit down to drink it and it tastes super weak. I enjoy a strong Americano which is why I paid for the extra shot. Tried but couldn’t drink it as is so I go to up and pay for another shot of espresso so I can add to my Americano and fix my drink. Watch them make it and when they place it on counter they call out a completely different name so I don’t take it and continue to wait. Girl who took my order finally comes over and pushes the shot towards me and says this is yours. I said she called out Christina and she says oh I must have entered the wrong name.
It’s hard to mess up an Americano but when you forget to even make it and then when you finally do you forget the extra shot and put it in the wrong cup you botched it. And then when I pay for another espresso shot to fix it you call out a completely different name. I probably...
Read moreI got there hangry, bc my previous choice was closed after waitingv2 hours for them to open, and while some of BICR staff was pleasant, other than a varity of coffee they had nothing substantial, nutritionally to off but some "other bakeries" 2nd party outside vendors carbohydrates offering! Auwe'! My human flesh n blood craves protein in the morning to fulfill my body's nutritional needs and so this was kinda a time waster, a "coffee break" when i craved something sustainable! I don't mean to come down hard on these people, they're just trying to start up a new business, and little else! There was a bit of hype on social media about a new coffee place in Hilo, "oooh haaa" for nothing! A short-sighted "soft open" with nothing substaintial to offer. You're better off cruising down a 1/2 mile to Keakaha General Store where at least you get choices! I watched the wahine make my Iced coffee, it was less than one half cup coffee, tall glass with ice and the rest milk! They were friendly, upbeat and cordial but it didn't fulfill the aching pain in my still empty stomach when I left. And oh yea, bus your own...
Read moreA really nice Cafe selling authentic Hawaiian Coffee in Hilo downtown. The most interesting part of this cafe is the adjoining coffee roasting area, where early in the morning you can view the coffee roasting process around 9 AM. The coffee is great, while they have a nice large menu for baked items as well. The staff are super nice, very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. There is plenty of free customer parking in their own lot. The cafe also has clean restrooms for its customers. The ambiance is very chic and has a very controlled level of noise, a lot of people were working out of this cafe during mid day. They also sell a lot of their own coffee beans, grinder coffee, and sachets. They also have a dedicated corner for their own merchandise and items. The cafe is fully wheelchair accessible and they also have a parking spot for such customers right next to the door. Highly recommended if you are in Hilo or have landed or are taking a flight out of...
