Quality of food was above average compared to most of the food in the city which are below average.
We had the $8 pho and chicken banh mi in house and got the pork banh mi to go. If you are visiting and looking to fill up your pho craving, you can rely on this place. The beef broth is rich and is a good base of what pho should be. The bean sprouts and jalapeño provided were not fresh but the Thai basil and mint were OK.
The banh mi was ~$7 each w/tax. It’s a bit pricy and missing the smear of pâté and mayo that it usually has on the mainland but the pickled radish and carrots were very refreshing and the meat was tasty. The bread was toasted so it was hot and crispy yet soft on the inside. Was personally a tad too buttery but would still definitely recommend as a snack you can bring to enjoy on the...
Read moreThis "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. My mom and I finally had the chance to try it, and, boy, what a treat! We ordered takeout since my mom is elderly. We ordered the steamed rice with pork chop - shredded pork and eggs (38), shrimp and eggplant (don't know the number), beef stewed with noodle (3), crispy egg noodles special with shrimp (51), and the Hong Kong rice noodles (33). Everything was delicious! My mom liked the shrimp and eggplant best. (I couldn't find it on the menu, but the server knew what I was talking about). The pork chop and the shrimp and eggplant were among my favorites. I loved the beef stewed with noodle also. It might be easy to overlook this nondescript place, so I wanted to help bring notice to this little gem....
Read moreI had the Seafood with Rice Noodles in house, and one order to go. It was great. Lots of carrots, bok choy, and other good stuff in there in addition to the seafood. Their broth was nice, not oily like I have had at other places. Staff was accommodating, and my take-home order was ready to go when I was. Good selection of Sriracha, pepper/garlic sauce, and other spicy accouterments at each table. I had seen a few previous posts about the (lack of) decor , but was satisfied with the layout, presentation and cleanliness of the dining areas during my visit. It is definitely no frills though. From the side dining room, there is a view of the pond area across the street, if that's your druthers. I'm glad I stopped in. This place will probably become a regular...
