Came into Boots and Kimo with my fiancé and mom at around 2 pm on a Sunday and there was no wait (probably because they close at three pm and the brunch rush was over). I ordered the garlic chicken plate (served with Kimo's garlic sauce and rice and mac salad). This was so good! The garlic sauce was so flavorful and the chicken was perfectly crispy. He had the Huelo Paniolo Omelwtte (corned beef, kula onion, tomatoes & melted Haleakala Swiss cheese). All omelettes are 3.5 eggs, served with your choice of hash browns, toast, or rice (add $1.25 for fried rice). I liked the omelette but the fried rice was too smokey for my taste (from the bacon). Mom had the chicken Katsu plate, which was good but not anything special. We all agreed that my garlic chicken was the best out of all our plates. We saw everyone ordering the pancakes, and all the reviews mentioned pancakes too. We couldn't resist and ordered a small stack of Kimo's famous macadamia nut sauce on pancakes. We ordered the sauce on the side because we were afraid we wouldn't finish (we didn't) and didn't want the pancakes to be soggy if we ended up taking them home. I'm not a huge pancake person but these were amazing. They're plain pancakes but they're warm and fluffy, and the mac sauce just makes it. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the Kailua area.

3.5/5. Was recommended to try this place out by a friend while visiting the island, so I was very excited to try the infamous macadamia nut pancakes! The Food: With the macadamia nut pancake being a staple here, that's what I had to order. Also ordered a side of Portuguese sausages for some protein. The macadamia sauce was delicious! The flavor was sweet and the sauce itself was very creamy. And the pancakes were cooked perfectly. The Portuguese sausages however, were incredibly salty and a little overcooked. Now for, the reason on my rating, is because although the pancakes were good, i wouldn't say they are anything worth the price point it was at. About $20~ for a 3 stack of pancakes is ridiculous! Portion on the pancakes were a little bigger than an average pancake, but the Portuguese sausages ($9) were tiny. Food was good, but not that good at this price point. I'll have to pass on this place next time. The Service: This breakfast spot is very popular, so there will be a line/wait. However, it moves somewhat fast depending on time of day. Service was good, no complaints. The Atmosphere: The restaurant decor was nice, sports themed with jerseys and photos on the walls. There isn't that much seating, but not small by any means. Overall, a 3.5/5. Food was good, but it's not worth it at this price point. Maybe other items are, but not the pancakes.

Cash Only! Food first:. The banana pancakes with macadamia nut topping... It's the real deal. I was worried about the topping being to sweet so I asked for it on the side. It was honestly very light and not too sweet. Go for it on top and you won't be disappointed! The kalbi ribs were extremely tasty as well. Super thick cut ribs - not your traditional cut, cooked perfect and great combination for breakfast with eggs and the fried rice. A bit on the pricey side - but when you see the plate, you will forget about it. Despite having to wait an hour and a half on a Monday for breakfast, the food was top notch here. There can even be a line to put your name in here, but if it's your first time, I would say do it for the experience. For the experienced - you can order to go, which turns food around really quick. So when I go back, I'm doing that for sure. The diner sits on the corner accross the street from the Target store, plenty of free parking behind. The front patio has some seating for waiting but still a lot of people having to stand outside. The interior diner is fairly small, but decorated with lots of football themed stuff, very cool. All the staff was great, friendly and fast. From the time we sat down, we had ordered and food on our table was probably less than 10 minutes!

For the last decade, I dreamt of Boots & Kimo's macadamia nut sauce pancakes. I visited B&K 11 years ago when they were at a smaller one-off plaza. Back then, I remember waiting 1.5 hrs but it was totally worth it. So after a decade and change, here I was reliving my dream. B&K had moved to a larger spot and had a line in front even at 8am opening. But oh boy were the pancakes just as I remembered them. This time, we had French Toast with the macadamia nut sauce as well and it was simply heavenly. The toast was thick and soft and went perfectly with the sauce. The banana pancakes were also fluffy. My 3 kids gobbled them up like there was no tomorrow. We also had an omelette rice which was also lovely. The only blemish of the day was that the interior was a weird mixture of sports jerseys (which I think was there 11 years ago but not as prominent) and the place smelled a bit funky. I couldn't also help feel that they were trying to shuttle through as many customers as possible but that's understandable given their popularity. B&K is a true gem of Oahu. One must pay a visit to this sacred location.

If you're craving something delightful, Boots & Kimos is da spot! From the moment you step inside, the warm and welcoming atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. Their claim to fame, the Macadamia Nut Pancakes, is nothing short of legendary. These fluffy stacks, topped with their signature creamy macadamia nut sauce, are a heavenly indulgence that keeps us coming back for more! But Boots and Kimo's offers more than just pancakes. Their extensive menu features an array of mouthwatering dishes, from savory omelets to hearty loco moco. No matter what you choose, you can expect generous portions and top-notch quality. Beyond the food, the service at Boots and Kimo's is exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations or accommodate special requests. Whether you're a local or a visitor, you'll feel like part of the ohana from the moment you walk in. Overall, Boots and Kimo's is a culinary gem in Kailua, that consistently delivers delicious food, friendly service, and a taste of true Hawaiian hospitality.
