Today was my first visit to this location. Omg! Okay, the sushi was awesome, no complaints about food on today's visit.
Yes, this location hasn't been open that long but the whole atmosphere is WRONG.
You enter the front door - employees are off to your left in the drinks station, etc. They say some type of Japanese greeting - I'm like whatever?!
The checkout counter is in the most stupidest location that causes the front door to get congested and actually cause a hazard if any emergency occurred.
The ordering system, once explained, was pretty simple. The sides came really fast. So logically, if you consider the sides "appetizers" then delivery of order is on mark.
After, 20 minutes and no sushi rolls - my patience was wearing. The table behind us gets seated. Their sushi rolls are arriving after the first ten minutes!!!!
I call the server over and here's the topper! Sent my mood to the dark side! Her reply to everything began with "If i had to guess..." WRONG! Wrong answer! That pissed me off. Then i asked about how long before the rolls are ready. After her "If i had to guess...." response - i said ahhh - GO KNOW! Don't guess, go know!
She returns to say about 20 minutes. Because they just opened, everybody was seated one time so they were overwhelmed with orders.
I went from pissed to "Serious? Are you a dumbass!" Look on my face! So i tell her, we'll take our rolls for take out. Okay, her answers get dumber by the moment.
She walks away and sushi rolls continue to arrive for the customers behind us who sat after our sides arrived!!!!
I ask for my check - another worker - clueless on her job. I head to pay and the whole front area by the front door for is congested, cashier moves slower than a 80-year old grandmother. No customer service by both cashiers. What a trip!
Hey, but the sushi was good so they following the...
Read moreI arrived at 4pm on Labor Day; it was very slow. A half-empty restaurant but we waited for 15 minutes to be seated. Ordered. My friend who had a samsung wasn't able to access the online phone menu (the only method to order). Then we waited for the food. 10 minutes pass. 20 minutes pass. We see some of our dishes zoom past us and to the table behind. 30 minutes pass. only one person got one dish by now. We press the "call for help" button. Wait for 5 minutes, nothing happens. Press it again -- nothing happens. A couple more dishes come and zoom past us to the table behind. they were our dishes, sent to the wrong table over and over. 40 minutes pass, we flag down one of the very busy waiters, he writes down the orders we still need to get and goes to the kitchen to submit them. 50 minutes pass, we finally get most of our dishes. 30 minutes after we pressed the "call for help" button, a woman comes to our table and asks, " How can I help you?" We are confused because we pressed that button 30 minutes ago. She leaves.
We finally leave, jaded and frustrated, stomachs barely full.
All I can say is, I'm glad I had a gift card. We all decided we would never go back to Genki Sushi again.
p.s. the waiter who helped us with our food was very kindâthe Hawaiian guy whose name...
Read moreFrom a Hilo girl born and raised, I DONâT recommend dining in here. We went for my grandpaâs birthday and it was overly disappointing to say the least. Their take out bentos are good, which is why I say skip the dinning in. The conveyor thing is a cool experience, but the food is mediocre. Rolls look like a child made them sometimes (cut in all different sizes, rice falling out from the open seams in the nori) and some of the fish was pale. The servers didnât even greet us, and werenât pleasant when talking to us (except for one boy). Which you have to call them whenever you need ANYTHING. More water? Chopstick and straw trash filling the table? They donât come around like normal servers for this stuff so you have to call. If thatâs their policy then fine, but even when we did call, no one came for a while until one worker (the boy) finally saw it and came. Mind you we can see all of the other servers. We also werenât told the total or given an itemized receipt, she just added up our plates, took the card, and went back to the register. In my opinion, it was just sad and it made me sad that my grandpaâs birthday dinner was spent like this which is why I donât normally write reviews, but personally I wonât...
