I was so excited to hear about an all you can eat Chinese buffet, and we were not disappointed , exceeded our expectations. The server Mary Lou was wonderful. We really enjoyed chatting with her and enjoying her superior serving, we were so well tended to. My water was never empty, plates cleared right away. The food was delicious!! They had lots of vegetable options, green salad, and Mac salad, many meat options, including whole shrimp , clams in a rich broth, fried fish, chicken cooked many ways, beef, dumplings, french fries, onion rings & more my hubby & I were in heaven. We have different preferences of food & this buffet allowed me to go heavy on the vegetables & him heavy on the meats. The egg Foo young looked perfectly executed. Delicious sesame balls for dessert. Everything was handmade & very fresh. Grilled and fried options. You get served hot tea, right when you sit down, what a treat! The AC is nice & cool. The kitchen is brand new due to a fire in the past and they just recently opened again after 16 months being closed for renovations and the kitchen and restaurant and bathrooms are sparkling clean! There’s a big opening where you can see in the kitchen where they’re making up these fresh meals & cleaning everything very well. I’m so glad I can support a family owned business. I hope others continue to come so they can stay offering this, all you can eat buffets are very rare after Covid & especially on the islands because of the risk of loss profits. I’m grateful they are willing to take the chance in this struggling economy of high cost of food and overhead. The menu has a lot of great options that you can order off of instead also, definitely able to find, Vegan , vegetarian , gluten-free, dairy free options, nut free, seafood free options. We can always get steamed white rice and steam vegetables as an idea too for some people that have very specific sensitivities. I think this is a great stop over for tourists bc it’s very affordable at just $20.99 each & less for children & free under certain age, off the main highway, can satisfy different food preferences & can chow down w/o a huge bill. Great location for going & coming from other attractions like volcano national park & Kona trip for tourism. Mahalo to this establishment from a satisfied couple from Volcano. See you again soon & will be...
Read moreIf you are looking for great and authentic Chinese food steer clear of this place. We wanted Chinese food while in Hilo and started searching online. This place was 4.5 stars and was open at 3:00pm so we headed over. The place looked decent from the outside but when we got inside I started feeling like we walked into the wrong place. There was hardly any decor and there were large empty tables scattered around a large spartan room. There were two tables with people which appeared to be family members. The menus were limited compared to every other Chinese restaurant I had patronized. We picked a couple of appetizers and two entrees. When I asked if they had egg drop soup… a staple in every Chinese restaurant, I was told they didn’t have that. The waitress had a hard time getting our order straight. Incidentally, there was a buffet that ended about the time we walked in. I ordered egg rolls which I am 100% certain came off the buffet and were thrown back into the deep fryer and sold to me at full price. They were over cooked and compared to my wife’s sping rolls were much darker in color. I also got General Tao’s chicken. It must have also been on the buffet and was reheated and served as fresh. They were over General Tso’s chicken was just the breaded chicken with sauce. No broccoli, no scallions as shown in the picture on the menu and as served in most every Chinese Restaurants. My wife’s food came out about 15 - 20 minutes after mine (because it wasn’t on the buffet). The food was mediocre at best and get this… ready? We were not served rice with our entree. WTF? At the end the $20-$30 per person price on the website turned out to be around $40 per person before tip. This place is expensive and awful. You are better off at...
Read moreFirst time I came here my boss took me out to dinner everything was fine This time I dined alone I walked in places empty there were what I thought were three waitresses standing around and I believe the owner or manager I was expecting to get escorted to a table but no one said anything so I walked to a table sat down there was one lady that took my order and then another lady wrapped the food out and then brought the fried wontons out and then brought the rice out the wontons were so fried that I could hardly bite into them the rice was good but they didn't bring any soy sauce or anything with it didn't even ask I had egg foo young with gravy the first one on top was good and warm not exactly hot but warm and it was good the next four underneath of it had no gravy whatsoever or bone cold and so I asked for them to reheat it and the waitress looked at me as if I asked for something more than whatever then she asked me if they were cold and I said well they're not warm so after about 8 minutes of my food being gone a few young came back and the top one was warm but all the rest were not warm or hot and still no gravy needless to say this is the last time that I'm going to be dining here unless they get some waitresses that actually wait on people and I do believe that that's their job anyway I did leave a $5 tip which I thought was a bit much for no service but oh and I'm not used to eating around a bunch of kids running around and everything instead of a restaurant maybe I'm old-fashioned but I'm also paying...
