My go-to bento shop! Especially for fishing or hunting! I've ordered a lot of stuff on the menu and everything so far was above average! They have drinks but I think it's mostly canned/bottled, and this place doubles as a local chinese snack/treats shop! Bonus!

Like any other Chinese take-out place; this place also PACKS their containers, so much so that I'd say it can serve as a good meal for a local Hawaiian braddah or for others like me; 2 meals. Average $10+/person, and they have small and large sized bentos!

Very friendly and engaging staff! One of them even complemented my car! Automatic +1 star! If I could give 6 stars I would😂😂😂

I recommend ordering ahead(30 min in advance at the least) otherwise I'd say wait times could be up to 30 minutes. But in my experience my most recent wait time was 20 minutes for 3 plates when it was busy. And they do take your orders out to your car if you are cautious of covid!

To whomever it may concern: I would like to see/recommend opening up a 5 Spice out in Kona/Waikoloa side! I've been working on that side of the island for years now and never heard anyone talking about a "better than average" bento/take-out lunch shop! I know prices for places are crazy high out there now, so maybe sometime in the future!

Thank you for all the hard work you and the staff at 5 Spice commit! Please keep...

I ordered teriyaki chicken. I was under the impression I would get regular teriyaki chicken (usually dark meat grilled, cut up, and then tossed in teriyaki sauce) but recieved teriyaki karage. It wasn't great. It was heavily fried and coated in so much teriyaki sauce the chicken tasted almost candied. Similar to what you'd get in a mall food court from an off brand Chinese restaurant. Super odd. The Mac salad tastes strangely like potato salad (it's obviously not, but the flavor is just a lot more similar to potato salad than any Mac salad I've ever had). My husband's gravy on his Loco plate was very bland but the meat was well cooked.

Not many, if any, vegetarian options.

The parking is fine, but there's nowhere to sit so you need to take all food to go. All food was made fresh,...

If you think that fried chicken should be served hot, don't bother trying this place. I asked them about it and they took my half eaten plate back in the kitchen and poured some sauce over it like it was going to help.

3 stars because the chicken is seasoned better than most places in Hilo, but you'll get better chicken at the gas station.

Don't be fooled by the STEAMING HOT takeout box they hand you (I immediately got in my car and had opened it in less than 30 seconds after receiving it). They put extremely hot rice in the box to trick you into thinking you actually have fresh cooked chicken when it might as well have come out of...

Great food and a large variety of Asian snacks! I would suggest to call in your order ahead of time, as they are usually very busy around 11am - 1pm. The Furikake Fish is great, prices are great, and portions are generous. The Crack Seed, Jumbo Whole Cherry, and Football seeds that I have eaten are amazing. Reminds me of an old seed shop that is no longer around.

Cute little shop for take-out lunch plates and by-the-pound snacks. We ordered a chicken katsu with salad and 2 scoops of rice. Plenty of food for 2 (not very hungry) adults to share. Quick service, pleasant folks, and easy parking at 2pm. Would consider going back for dinner.
