Hilo Rice Noodle Soup — Restaurant in Hawaii

If I could give zero star I would. Had family dinner at this restaurant, everything was going smooth even though the food doesn’t taste the same since the owners hanged and until payment. Worker bring the check, she mentioned the tip is included on the total. I explained to her that I would like to put the total cost of the meal on the card and pay the tips with cash. After awhile she comes back she said that “they” are going to charge including the tips that they mentioned earlier on the card. I didn’t appreciated that demanding and I now am not happy, so I explained the gratitude supposed to come from the customer who received excellent service experience and it’s customer’s decision to give the deserved amount. I was already planning to give the amount in cash but since they correcting me and they must charge it all on the card I was not happy I took back $3 from $28 tip I was planning to tip them. I mention to one worker to give message to the owner that it it’s illegal to force customer to pay specific percentage amount of tips. And if they want to make that as policy then they need to inform customers before dine in or post the sign all over the restaurant to inform the customer of the forceful charges on specific percentage of tips. Now for us family we will never again give our business to this restaurant. price has gone up so much, quantity is way less and quality isn’t great as before since...

When I walked in the door with my date we were brushed off and told to sit anywhere. Our waitress was friendly, and our water was frequently refilled, which was nice. Our plates were brought out about five minutes apart. Good thing this wasn't a first date, or that would have been very awkward. The food itself was disappointing. We ordered fried spring rolls. They were my favorite part of the meal. I don't know what was in them but they were crispy and delicious I had sliced beef and flank pho. The meat was cut too thick for pho. The broth was bland and clear, the only flavor I got was cloves. Plenty of vegetables were given though. My date ordered ginger chicken which seemed to be just dark meat chicken with ground ginger and green onions. Overall not worth the $28.28 we spent. This is my go-to place whenever I'm in Hilo. Their Vietnamese and Chinese food are both incredible and I have yet to have a dish here that I didn't love. In particular, their beef in spicy pepper salt and their bun dishes are divine.

I cannot go to Hilo without visiting at least a half dozen times. Really wonderful wait staff - very friendly and even if I haven't been in over a year, they remember my order without any problems. The staff are so great and accommodating. This restaurant is a treasure.

I can't recommend this place enough. If you get there in time for lunch, try their sesame balls....
