Skinny Mike's Ice Cream & Shave Ice — Restaurant in Hawaii

Employees seemed a bit bothered by us and more interested in each other. The ice cream and sorbet were good but the shaved ice was not. I asked for Pina-Colada but what I got tasted like banana.

It was kinda a bummer bc one of the girls got a text in the middle of preparing my treat and stopped making it so she could share the text with her co-worker in a whisper while we waited. When I finally got my treat, I just wanted to get out of there. I didn’t feel comfortable to share that my snow cap was forgotten and that banana was used instead of pineapple.

The spot is neat to sit outside and look at the ocean while you enjoy your sweet treat. There are other shops in there too and a couple restaurants with good happy hours.

In short, the sundae in a waffle bowl equals yummy. Sorbets delicious. Skip the Shaved Ice and don’t expect an Aloha Welcome. Instead of hello, we got a “pull up your mask” even though there was a table of people sitting, some with treats and all...

While not my favorite Shave Ice in Hawaii (that title is held by Scandys on Kona). Skinny Mikes IS my favorite on Kauai. Skinny Mikes is known in our family as “those huge shave ice bowls”! In addition to amazing shave ice they also have coffee and scoop ice cream making it a one stop shop for families with multiple tastes.

For me, shave ice begins with the shave and then must have a wide assortment of flavors both Hawaiian and traditional. You can add a scoop of any flavor ice cream for $2.50 and a snow cap of condensed milk which is a non-negotiable.

At the End of the Day we have never been to Kauai that didn’t involve a stop at Skinny Mike’s and we never will. Also like much of Kauai there is a shortage of workers and staff so please be patient and understanding when there is a huge line and two people working. Don’t be...

We stumbled upon this place while walking around the hotel resort area. I'm so excited that we found this place. I love ice cream, it's my favorite food to eat, and they have a great selection of flavors and unique ones too. The employee was super friendly and patient he let me try whatever flavor I wanted and as many and I wanted. I ended up getting the Ube with Coconut and it was delicious. I also got the Macadamia Nut one as well because when in Hawaii why not load up on Macadamia Nuts. My husband got the Strawberry Cream one and that was delicious as well. We saw some people get Shaved Ice and the size was outrageous, it was the size of a soccer ball! It was crazy! You can load it up with ice cream under the shaved ice too.
