Standard Bakery Inc — Restaurant in Hawaii

I drive 12 miles each way to get Hamburger buns. Standard Bakery has, hands down, the best. They are large and seedless, and they smell so fresh. They sell those buns to several restaurants around town. Standard also sells cakes, pies, and the usual but my other favorite is the bento boxes for a quick breakfast or lunch. They do a whopping business selling their goodies to the workers and tradesmen looking for a hot homemade breakfast at 5 or 6 in the morning on their way to work. Same thing at lunch time. Soooo much better than fast food! I think they close at 2 pm. I know this because I have gone up there just a little late and missed them. I love Standard Bakery. We visited this bakery Tuesday morning March 29 of 2022. After reading such great reviews and having great coffee not far from here a few days before our expectations were high.

I don’t know what happened but the two coffees we ordered must have been made hours ago as they were lukewarm at best and frankly a bit sour. Super disappointed. My wife dumped hers within a minute and I finished nearly half of mine.

We probably should have gone back to ask for new ones. The baked goods were decent however.

Hopefully this was a simple mistake. I’ll pass by next time...

They say they close at 2 pm. We showed up before 1:30, but they said they had already shut down the grill, so most of their menu was unavailable. It would have been "too much trouble" to fire it up again.

If they advertise that they're open until 2 pm, then they should be fully open until then.
