Sunset Terrace — Restaurant in Hawaii

One of the must-do's on Hawaii is to watch the setting sun while on a patio or terrace facing the ocean. Sunset Terrace happens to be in our resort complex so we walked down just before sunset to have a dinner while watching the setting sun. It seems all the tourists like to do the same thing but we got a table overlooking the pool and facing west. We received prompt service even though our waiter was basically managing the entire restaurant on his own for most of the evening. In a short period of time, our dinners arrived. The coconut shrimp was very good. Crispy coating outside and moist, tender shrimp inside. The dipping sauce was okay. For the main course, I had the fish & chips. The order came with 3 nice sized pieces of ono that was again moist and tender inside and crisp and crunchy outside. Really good. Not so good was the tartar sauce which was just okay as it didn't add anything to the fish. A nice glass of local beer made everything just that much better. Others in our party had the salad with the fish add-on and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The most pleasant surprise was the affordability factor as we have been trying out various dining establishments both in Kauai and here on Hawaii (big island) and Sunset Terrace has food that is nearly as good as other places that we've tried for a lot less greenbacks (dollars). If you're looking for a fantastic spot in Kona for delicious food and entertainment, look no further than Sunset Terrace. We've been going there ever since its been oppened and it has become our go-to spot. The staff is incredible, the food is always fresh and tasty, and there's awesome music every single night.

Our favorite food to get are their blue cheese burgers, onion ings, club sandwiches, and the fish and ships. The fish is always fresh and the crisp on the batter is so delicious! The drinks that you MUST has is the Lava Flow. They serve it with fresh strawberries and it just tastes like a vacation.

The views from this restaurant are so relaxing. You are looking into the golf course and have tropical views all throughout. We enjoy coming here so much!

Hit and miss service but management needs to investigate. Food average. Our first night on Aug 29 we had a great server. Short hair female, very attentive and personable. I wondered why all the negative service reviews! Then tonight Sept 2, I understand. Long dark hair in a bun, slim build with butterfly tatt on right arm. We sat for 10 minutes, no water or menu. Only 2 other tables full and they were done. We went up to bar and poured our own water and grabbed a menu. Server giggled behind bar with hefty male bartender, both drinking energy drinks. After 20 minutes I asked if there was a server; he said she’ll be right with you. She cleaned 2 tables and drank more beverage before finally waiting on us.
