The Garden at Boardroom — Restaurant in Hawaii

We made a special trip to this restaurant with our toddler specifically. We called 20 minutes ahead to ask about the wait time, and we even mentioned we’d be arriving shortly. At no point were we informed that the kitchen would be closed due to short staffing.

After driving all the way there, we were told upon arrival that the kitchen was closed and no food could be served. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing—especially with a young child in tow. A simple heads-up over the phone would have saved us the trip and the hassle.

We understand that staffing issues happen, but businesses should be aware of employee breaks and kitchen availability ahead of time, especially when customers are calling in to check. The lack of basic communication and foresight really shows poor customer service. Unfortunately, we won’t...

Really disappointed. I’d been looking to try Solar Shack for months. We came by from Town side at 9:30am on a Sunday, and they’d run out of almost all food. No eggs. No pastries. Not even jam for toast.

We asked if we could buy coffee from them and bring in takeout from The Boardroom next door over so we could hang in the enclosed couch area, and the lady working said no.

The place was nearly empty during brunch time because of this.

The lady also got defensive and frustrated when we asked why they had no food, barking at us that they got a big order that morning (it was currently 9:30am) as if it were our fault lol.

So we walked to Nalu instead and had delicious breakfast sandwiches.

Bullet coffee was cold, watery, and very disappointing. Matcha latte, despite being in the same section as the bullet, came iced. It wasn’t called an iced drink. I don’t like iced drinks and would have expected them to ask first. It was a breezy day too, so really I don’t know why they assumed to make it iced. I didn’t have it in me to send it back.

The staff is super friendly though.

The paleo cookie was good. The veggie burrito wasn’t bad. It’s a bit sweet (cinnamon and sweet potato) so it’s odd, but not bad.
