First time trying Peruvian food, and I was not disappointed! I went with two friends and they gave me a heads up on what was what. This truck serves different dishes depending on the day, and some items can be limited. I got the chicken al hormo (baked chicken with rice, and a vegetable salad mix), which seemed like something that was a safe choice for a first timer. The chicken was cooked to perfection with a great flavor. The rice had a nice amount of seasoning, which complimented the chicken perfectly! It was a mix of savory and spicy. The vegetable mix was colored pinkish from the beets and was on the sweeter side. I ate most of the plate very quickly and washed it down with an Inca Kola (pineapple tasting cola). My friends let me try some of their dishes and I was happy with the plate I chose. Would definitely like to come back and try the lomo saltado. The only reason I gave the atmosphere 4 stars is because it was very hot that day, and we sat outside in their tent area to eat. Read moreWas craving some good peruvian ceviche. I had a taste for authentic ceviche. Had did a search and the food truck pops up. I figured this would be perfect it would be quick and convenient. I approached the truck and the BBQ chicken aroma also caught my attention. The owners were very friendly. I ordered the ceviche and let me tell you it brought me memories of traveling in peru and hanging out at the beaches with a fresh plate of ceviche. The ceviche was fresh flavorful and a good portion. I ordered the chicken as well and it was juicy flavorful and a large portion. I was definitely impressed and content of my food choice. This place is a hidden gem and has some amazing ceviche and other peruvian dishes. Will definitely be back. You no longer go to businesses snd where customer satisfaction and service is a must. Businesses have lost there touch where the customer doesn't matter. This place was awesome. They will continue to get...
Read moreI hadn't been to Hayward for about four or five years, and I felt like eating at a dimly-lit bar where I can hear a lot of swearing, so i went to look for a kooky old steakhouse I really enjoyed then. Sadly it was gone, but I'm not sad...because I subsequently discovered the home-style Peruvian gem of El Causa.
Well, let me say that El Causa delivers. The owners are really helpful, friendly and made a suggestion for this chicken and beet rice bowl that was amazing. The chicken was so uniquely delicious it was gone too fast! Their Ceviche is right up at the top of any I can recall having. Outstanding.
I can't wait to be able to make my way back...hopefully it's not...
