I live in the country and spent the day with my niece who lives in Ferndale last weekend. She took me here for lunch. My initial thought was that it would be meh and boy was I wrong. I was REALLY wrong!!!

This place absolutely doesn't skip on anything when it comes to quality. Even their tomatoes were perfect. The caprese sandwich in my photos may not look like anything special but let me tell you this, I'd definitely drive for an hour or more to get another one. It was that good! And no, I'm not getting anything out of this review. They don't even know I'm writing it.

The poutine tots were amazing! The tots were a special they were running, usually it come as fries. If a restaurant has poutine on their menu, I typically try it. I've had some good poutine and I've not so good poutine. This was AMAZING poutine! The gravy on it was 100% on point.

I'm not even going to lie. I was a little skeptical about trying fried ravioli. For some reason, in my mind, I envisioned a nasty, chewy, gooey mess with cheese in the middle. It wasn't anything like that though. They were actually really good. The dough was tender and crispy, if that makes any sense at all. The marinara sauce was very flavorful.

It was quite apparent that Matt & Mo's takes pride in the menu items they produce. I know that I definitely appreciated every flavorful bite I took.

I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out, even if you live a ways away.

P.S. You may see some reviews indicating that the food here is expensive. Remember, you get what you pay for. I personally think that their prices are very reasonable based on...

I am very disappointed and will never go back. I have eaten here before and the Chicago dogs and beef are actually athentic (however that means nothing if pooly cooked), which is only reason I gave a 2 instead of a single star. I drove from downriver Michigan, it's about 40+ minute drive to get there. I also ordered for 2 co-workers. 2 beef sandwichs, 3 hot dogs, 1 pizza puff and fries, $70 plus a tip. 14.25 for a 5" sandwich is a bit much but it is a specialty item and hard to find, so I'll pay it. I order mine dipped (only way to eat them) but with the hour drive back home I wanted the au ju on the side. Dipped means exactly that, the entire sandwich is dipped in au jus. However they falsely advertise this as the employee stated they only ladel on a bit. So I asked for my "dipped" au ju to be on the side for the trip. They gave me 1 tiny container for each beef. I asked for extra one for each and she said it would be a dollar more for each one. When I asked her if the one container was the equivalent of being dipped she clearly admitted it's not and said I'd still have to pay 1$ for each additional container. I said forget it and left. Tried to eat the fries and pizza puff on the way home, both were very over cooked, the fries were overdone and hard and the pizza puff was just burnt. I try to support little shops even driving 1.5 hours round trip but not for this poor service, and bad food. So my hard overcooked fries, burnt pizza puff and dry beef, (the hot dogs were good and also why gave 2 stars) was a total waste of my time and efforts. Don't recommend and...

My buddy sent me a Tik Tok video made by @chowdowndetroit Seoung Lee. He recommended the Italian beef sandwich, among other things. So my buddy and I planned on have a late lunch here today. We got here around 3:30, and there was a line. This place was jamming. We stood in line, I think, for about ten, maybe 12 minutes before I got to order. I orderer my food and they told me about 30 Minutes. So I have to point out at this point, I was starving, and I had not had anything to eat all day. So sometimes, I can be my own worst enemy. I am like, wow, is this place overhyped? Am I going to be disappointed? So they finally call my name. I rush up and grab my sandwich and Root Beer. It was such a lovely day out. I went and sat back down at the picnic tables they have outside. I tore into my bag and unwrapped my sandwich, and took a massive bite out of it. Wow, 😳 this sandwich was amazing. Hands down, I am coming back here. The only thing I messed up with is that I should have orderer ice cream when I ordered my food. I was still hungry when I inhaled my sandwich, but I didn't want to get back into a long line. Not trying to jab at them the were super busy and I should have been better...

Inspired by watching The Bear on Hulu I decided to seek out an Italian beef sandwich near by. Matt & Mo’s shares space with an ice cream shop in Hazel Park. The walk up window attendant was very nice and helpful answering all my questions. I ordered the Italian beef with hot & sweet peppers, dipped. I also ordered a side of fries with the honey sriracha & 1000 Island dipping sauce. It was a very good meal. The one thing I noticed about the Sando was the meat was a bit dry even though it was dipped. I did use some of the dipping sauce on the Sando and it was pretty good. I would go and try it again for sure. The peppers were good with the dipped bread and meat.
