The place is really nice. I love all the room they have. Lots of seats, so if the parking lot is full, there are still several seats available.
I'm not really sure what the identity of this place is yet, I am sure they are still figuring it out so give em time. It's like jack of all trades feeling by the food and coffee I received.
I ordered a breakfast burrito and a vanilla latte. The burrito needed something with it like a side of salsa or other condiments. It was very dry without anything. Also it was a little small for nearly $5 all though I'm not complaining compared to Starbucks prices. If they can nail the burrito I will be back. My wife and I have been trying to find more places that serve breakfast burritos. Ever since the coffee shop in East Helena closed there hasn't been a place to match their burritos.
I drink a coffee every single day... It's a bad habit but It's a big part of my life. The coffee here seemed too artifically sweet for lack of a better term. Can't quite put my finger on it. I drank it, it just wasn't something I was expecting. I will probably wait awhile before trying them again but it just was ok.
This place is nice and would recommend anyone try them if they want to try something new to Helena. It's a great...
Read moreGood: Service was friendly and grounds were clean and maintained. Pickles I got were absolutely delicious. I ended up putting these on the my two sandwiches to help with taste. The key lime danish was very good despite the size(about a 2 inch square handed to me in a sandwich bag). Bad: I ordered a reuben and a meatball sandwich. The reuben was very bland and had very little in the way of meat/sauerkraut. The meatball sandwich was horrible. Also very bland, but obviously microwaved. The cheese on it was inside the meatballs but had so little flavor I couldn't tell. I could have gotten better at a gas station.
Overall: The meal breakdown was this - Reuben $7.75, Meatball Sandwich Combo $9.75(includes pickles and upsized drink to large), and Key Lime Danish $1.50. Total $19. This meal was not anywhere worth it. As stated the staff were pleasant, the store very clean and nicely maintained. Normally I would recommend another visit to see if this were an anomaly. But this is my second visit and my first was very much the same but with different items. Because of very poor food quality and prices that are much higher than the competition, I cannot recommend 1889 Coffee House as a...
Read moreWhen this establishment first opened it was amazing. Great service, great coffee.
Now, the coffee is watery and flavorless and the service is uninviting and half-hearted.
Today was the worst. I went through the line, ordered a Vanilla Latte with an extra shot, a cinnamon roll, and a cup of chicken wild rice soup. Adds up to $15.15, I give the person my filled coffee card, that should take off the cost of the coffee. The person swipes my card, then looks at the coffee card and realizes it's full, they start a new one for me and hand it to me, keeping the old one. I went home and checked the balance. I was charged $18.18, not only did she steal my coffee card, she gave her self a $3 tip. I never got a receipt and I never entered my pin or signed for anything.
Edit: Contacted the manager, he got everything squared away, so at least there's that. Bumping up...
