Melaque Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Helena

One of the most bizarre experiences I’ve ever witnessed at a restaurant. 4 of us eating, we get a bowl of chips and 2 bowls of salsa. We finish one bowl and half of the second is left. The food comes out and we ask for more salsa and are told to finish the last bowl FIRST! In shock at such a ridiculous comment i dump the remaining bit of salsa out on my plate after the waitress leaves and set the 2now empty bowls at the edge of the table and when she returns she says “ OH SEE YOU FINISHED IT” and then NEVER BRINGS ANYMORE EVER. Im sorry but Im not going to eat at a restaurant that RATIONS my food! You need me to pay extra for more salsa FINE but Im not going to have an argument with a server over what i can and cant order to my table…. On top of this i watched other tables get rushed to wrap up and leave whilst at the same time a table near them had bean done eating for 20 minutes and just sat there talking and never had a word said to them. So is there some kind of weird decision making process the staff goes through here to decide who they are rude and obnoxious to. W’eve ate here many times before and had similar things like this happen but none so ridiculous as this time. Wont ever be eating here again. I here the new mexican food place at the truck stop by Walmart is good, will be trying...

I absolutely love their food every time I go in here it never fails I always order the same exact thing I order the fajitas with steak and chicken and I don't like onions so I asked if they could just not put those in there and they don't which is awesome because a lot of places won't do that for you... So they're really good about specific requests stuff like that for instance like when I order my fajitas I also don't like the guacamole I'm not a 🥑 persona but I'll ask if they'll replace it with extra sour cream instead and they do that as well and they don't charge me extra like half the places would or like all the crazy extra charges some of these places charge you for some of this stuff these guys don't do that to you the ladies and the gentleman that work in here are very kind and very helpful and their service is great 👍💯👍💯👍💯 thank you malex for making my experiences with you always 111% amazing 🤩🥰🤩🥰🤩🥰 I will be back soon 🔜🙏🔜🙏 yum 😋🤤😋🤤😋🤤😋🤤😋🤤 EVERYTHING is Delicious HERE and so MANY MANY DIFFERENT THINGS you can choose from they have an amazing variety of a menu... We walked in to a cold and unwelcome place and was seated shortly after we arrived. We had a very cranky older woman came over and reluctantly put some utensils on a napkin and brought chips and salsa. She ended up being our waitress. She had no kindness, no friendly welcome, almost like it was an inconvenience that we were there. It made us feel a little timid, but hey we were hungry and kids needed to eat. Food took a long time to arrive. The chili relleno is not authentic. It's more scrambled eggs with a raw chili inside and carrots? Why carrots? Also carrots in the carne asada burrito and carrots in the rice? it all was bland . Overall we won't be back. Mostly because of the service and how rude the woman was, but also because we didn't really enjoy the food. I get times are hard, but being a server most my life and living off tips -your personality and people's experience is what makes you money. Leave your problems at the door or change jobs....
