Los Arcos — Restaurant in Helena

Our party of five plus one child tried Los Arcos for the first time for dinner tonight. We had barely sat down when someone was there with chips and salsa and asking for drink orders! They arrived soon and were nice! The child serving of cheese quesadilla was jumped on right away and mostly eaten. The entrees had large portions and were tasty except for a lack of seasonings. My steak fajita quesadilla was loaded with steak, onions and peppers and came with sides to enhance it. But there really was no seasoning in the steak, and the beef felt low budget and kind of mealy. This is always my “go to” dish when dining at this type restaurant and I’m not sure how I feel. Others in the group enjoyed their meal, but it seemed it could have all been seasoned more. Just a few shakes of some spices could have elevated this meal! And please revisit the steak you are using. Would rather pay more to get a good cut as this felt like something raided from a Banquet frozen beef entree! The service was excellent, the place colorful and clean, but the food needs to be rethought...

To begin with, they welcome you with a friendly smile, take you to your table and immediately bring you free chips and salsa. These are just perfect, not too thin that they break, not too salty, not too oily, and the salsa is very tasty and is not served cold, but room temp, as it should. There are many choices on the menu but they make the best Carne Asada, which comes with plenty of refried beans, rice, guacamole, grilled onions and green peppers, and even a grilled hatch chile, a grilled nopal and a grilled sprout onion. Enough food to dine twice. Their hibiscus agua fresca is made from scratch, not from powder, and is sweet but not too sweet, just perfect. Their flan is simply delicious! Our server was very sweet and friendly. The check was super reasonable, not overpriced at all. I've been there 3 times and it's been a good experience every time. I will definitely go back and highly recommend this...

I’m sure you’re here for the same reason I was - someone suggested let’s try the new place, you’re hesitant of trying something new, and you’re curious if there’s any reviews of it yet.

Well, worry not, it is actually extremely good. For starters, they’ve opened it up a ton, added a lot of light colors, increased the lighting, and have really done a great job with the ambience. But you’re not here for ambience, you’re here to know if it’s good or not. On our visit we had an enchilada and taco meal, a steak quesadilla, and a taco salad, and everything tasted excellent. No worries if that’s not your preferred cuisine as there were plenty of other great looking options. The food came quick, it tasted great, and best of all, it was actually a reasonable price.
