The Driftwood — Restaurant in Helena

I’m giving this a one star because I got an Americano to go before I left town to drive to Missoula and the hot water literally melted the cup.

When I got it I could tell it was way too hot to drink so I let it sit. The water was so hot that the cup became deformed over the course of 15-20 minutes of sitting with my drink in it. So when I picked it up to take my first sip it collapsed and spilled boiling hot coffee all over my lap while I was in the car driving at 70mph. I’m lucky the road was empty so I didn’t get into an accident when I slammed on the brakes because I went into fight or flight mode trying to get the scalding water off my body but having no way to escape or rip my clothes off. Remember when that lady sued McDonald’s for burns? I saw a sign for Macdonald pass right after this happened.

It really sucked because I gave the lady manning the stand a huge tip—she was a ray of pure sunshine and made my morning—but then I didn’t even get to taste the coffee before it tried to kill me.

This coffee shop doesn't have any coffee. Only has expresso. I tried to use my reusable coffee mug, they wouldn't fill it. Claiming it was dirty ( from the coffee I put in ot this morning) said state health codes forbid them from using a dirty cup. I asked if she could just rinse it and she said no.

I left, went to hotel next door and rinsed it then returned and got an Americano.

She charged me 3.00 for a 20 oz coffee in my 16oz mug. Then offered cream. I asked for a splash. That was an extra .25

I've never been to a coffee shop that charged extra for cream. So my 2.50 Americano in my reusable cup cost me 3.25.

There went her tip money.
