Read moreI don't doubt these Hawaiian donuts are great. Reviews are great. Unfortunately, we never got an opportunity to try them. We showed up at 10:30 and were told it would be 20 minutes till any were available. OK. No problem. After 20 minutes someone came from the kitchen area and said it would be another 5 minutes for people already waiting for their placed orders. No problem. 10 minutes later everyone waiting was told it would be ANOTHER 45 minutes. The folks who were already waiting for their placed orders still were waiting. What? Are you flying them in from Maui? The business has only been open 3 plus weeks and I understand there are growing pains. But come on. We'll definitely return as the reviews we've heard are terrific. I can only give 3 stars because 1 wouldnt be fair and anything higher wouldn't be based on the products. Looking forward to actually eating a few.
UPDATE: A assortment of a dozen were delivered free of charge to our home by Aloha Jay's. He apologized and explained the issues they were experiencing today. Although the gesture was unnecessary, it was appreciated. Needless to say, we tore into the box (still warm) immediately! They did not disappoint. Our favorite was the Cinnamon Sugar. Light, not heavy and very tasty. Quality item. I can't think of many businesses that would have gone to these measures. It shows the level of belief and dedication in their product. The 5 star was more than earned....
Read moreWanted to update my review - met the owner I believe and although the food and atmosphere seems to bring island vibes, he did not possess the true aloha spirit. He is not Hawaiian, but even though he isn’t didnt matter. The fact that I complimented his malasadas and said I purposely come out of my way when I am from out of town, he did not seem interested to make conversation, nor thank me for my business. I bought my husbands team (district manager for a cellphone carrier) a dozen along side my own Dozen, spending over $70, and having conversation with me seemed like pulling teeth. While he seemed more interested in flirting with a random woman / customer. Oh did I mention his mother seemed more interested that I am actually married to a Hawaiian? This is probably what happens when you try to meet people Ina little borough of Pennsylvania who doesn’t get out much or self absorbed that his donuts are doing better than Dunkin next door. I won’t be coming here anymore or recommending it to anyone. I’ll take my business elsewhere. Other staff was great except him. He should just stay in the back if he’s not going to be friendly...
