46th St. New York Style Pizzeria/Helotes — Restaurant in Helotes

Update 03/28/21 6 months after the last review and I have to change the rating to 1 star. We placed our usual order a few weeks ago and it was a terrible experience. We always order a large Alfredo pizza and a large 46th street special, ~$50 for two pizzas! I got the pizzas home and the were very burnt, the crust would have been better served to be on a shoe. We've had this issue here before but not to this extent. Usually we'd just eat it and hope for better next time. I don't think there will be a next time now. I took the pizzas back after trying to call and not getting an answer. I told the woman taking orders what happened and they remade them. She was very nice and offered a desert for the trouble. She said to let her know if they were not good again after the second attempt, they may not have made the dough correctly. Got home and they were still bad, not as bad, but not what you'd expect for $50 for two pizzas. I called again the next day and let her know they weren't really any better. She was great and offered a credit to try something else within the next week. She called back about ten minutes later to apologize that I would not receive a credit, as the owner told her no. She was very nice and I felt bad that she was put in that situation. This place can make a great pizza, just not reliably or repeatedly. You never know if you'll get what your expecting or just trash. So yeah, I don't think I'll be wagering another $50 in hopes that it might be good next time.

This pizza place is awesome most of the time. I would dare even say the best around. Our most recent experience wasn't too great, we ordered 2 pizza for $50 and they weren't very good, the crust was very burnt and hard. Every other visit has been stellar though, so will try again...

So, my fiancé and I are consistent return customers to this establishment. We really like the food, however today we received poor customer service. We understand when ordering from a third party, things are a little bit more complicated. However, not only did we get the run around from DoorDash but also from the manager Joe. Ordered our food at 5:40pm, it is now 7:50pm. Not only did the dasher and restaurant contact us multiple times to verify our address the actual dasher fo dump our food off at the wrong address and didn’t even answer when we contacted him just seconds after receiving the picture. Also, had to sit and wait on hold and make numerous calls to the restaurant and 3rd party delivery service and nothing was resolved. My advice to anyone ordering online from here there is a high probability that your address will be wrong, food will never be delivered and when you try to contact management they will not make things right. Customers are always right, especially when you went you above and beyond to ensure that all info was given to have a successful outcome. I really really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately I cannot give the pizza anymore than 3 stars. Maybe they had an off day? First of all, the pizza was way too over done had and had an extremely hard crust. It didn’t even look good. Second of all, there was very little sauce on it.... I know, how could this be?!? Third of all, there was almost no cheese on my $20 pizza, which I should not have to order with extra cheese! I would say the only upside is the toppings, because we ordered the meat lovers and there was certainly a lot of meat on it. But when I order a pizza I do not want to take a bite and taste 100% meet with no cheese or sauce. My parents are from New York, and I can tell you this is nothing like New York pizza should be.... nothing.
