After reading all of the rave reviews that are obviously posted by friends/family, we truly hoped this was a great place to go. After seeing an adversment on FB about Taco Tuesday, 4 shrimp tacos $10.00, we decided to try it. First off, anyone who was in town today, knew the wind was blowing like crazy and it was cold. Front door propped wide open and no one around. Stood at the frint to order and finally someone came out, we asked for the Shrimp taco special, was told not today it is fish tacos. Fine, 2 orders. . . Decided to go to what was the Bar area of previous restaurants, thinking it would be warmer. Nope that door wide open and thermostat said it was 64 degrees. Great, now we get dinner in an ice box. Tacos arrived, picture perfect. Took a bite, nice and crispy coating around the muddy taste of Cat fish. Managed to choke down one and a half out of shear hunger. Someone came by, there was a language issue, but they took our plates and another gentleman came by. Told him the muddy catfish taste and how quickly the crispy went to mushy, assured us it was Tilapia, blah blah. . . . Offered us a shrimp taco to appease us, turned it down as now we were very disappointed and frozen. But since the name is The Taco Shrimp, we will try one more time and hope they...
Read moreWe walked in and were not aware that you had to order then sit down. We stood there for about 10 minutes before a customer told us what to do, the girl behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us.
Once we found a clean table to sit at(3 tables were really dirty) we sat there for about 20 minutes with no one talking to us. I asked a waitress if our food was coming and she said "oh yes, of course". A few minutes later a different waitress came and asked us what we ordered because she couldn't find it in the kitchen.
About 20-25 minutes LATER we finally got some. The fish and shrimp tacos were pretty dam good. The carnitas was ok. The octopus was super salty, that my son couldn't eat it, the asada was so overcooked it was like an asada jerky taco and was inedible. Finally the beans and rice......I didn't think that you could mess up rice and beans....I was wrong.
The aguas frescas were delicious but they weren't brought with our food and when we asked for them they only brought out half of them and then I had to ask for the other half.
I MIGHT order a couple of fish or shrimp tacos for pickup but I will never...
Read moreWe were looking forward to eating here because of the amazing review a popular food blogger had posted. Man, what a disappointment, we ordered two fish tacos, two shrimp tacos, a tripas taco and two aguas frescas. First of all, the place smelled like they had just sprayed bug spray, the fish and shrimp tacos were soggy and the agua frescas were literally room temp with maybe a handful of ice in each large cup. I will say that the tripas taco was fire, perfectly crispy and not chewy what so ever. Besides all this, the thing that bothered me the most was that our cashier was paying more attention to her phone than taking our order. We literally ate across the street so there shouldn't have been time for our food to get soggy. I understand places having bad days but this was a bit much for me and I hope this isn't a...
