A small group of us all have been wanting to try Boom Bang fine foods for a while and we finally made reservations and made it happen. I especially wanted to try it being a Top Chef junkie and was looking forward to trying what Chef Elia had to offer. We arrived a little early and it took a min to be greeted, once we were greeted we were told our table was being cleaned and we would be seated shortly. 4 of our 5 were present and seated, we ordered a few drinks to start while we waited for our 5th. The old fashion was good , I ordered a coffee and I was told it would be an Americano which was fine I just wasn't told I would be paying for a double to fill the cup. We went ahead and ordered the Charcuterie board for 4 to start. It was presented nicely, the meats were delicious, it was a little unbalanced and needed some more bread to match the amount of meats and cheeses but overall we were pleased. We all ordered our main courses and they came out in a timely manner. I was on the fence but ended up ordering the bucatini Bolognese. The pasta was cooked very well, the sauce was a little underwhelming I'm just not sure I would classify it as a classic sauce. I don't remember seeing or tasting any carrots or celery, the sauce was over powered with nutmeg and cinnamon and it just didn't taste right. I certainly finished it all but I definitely would not order it again. 2 people ordered the white lasagna and it was one dish that took a while to cook. Both people were happy with their dish but if you do order it plan on waiting. One of our party ordered the bucatini carbonara and they seemed happy with it. Overall dinner was pretty good , I really liked the look of the lunch menu and will certainly return to give that French dip a try We ordered a few desserts and they were decent as well. We ordered the Boom Bang chocolate peanut crunch bar. I really wanted to like it but it was hard to eat. The carrot cake was well received and the Mexican hot chocolate creme brulee was good. Again we enjoyed what we ate but we definitely weren't wowed. The overall experience was good , our server was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. There is plenty to try and I think we will definitely find...
Read moreOur group ordered several things and only a couple of them were enjoyable. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the pastries and cocktails. However most of the experience was disappointing.
Our brewed coffee was served lukewarm, the chilaquiles were soggy and had no crunchy texture which really made it hard to enjoy. The eggs per Elia didn’t have much flavor aside from marinara.
The unanimous disappointment was with how the biscuits and gravy were presented. Our waiter clearly is a hard worker, but the trick of up-selling or inaccurately describing a dish in order to encourage you to add the add-ons is not appreciated by people who work in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Our waiter insisted that the biscuit is and gravy was not big enough for our friend and needed to add egg or protein to it, when in fact when it came, it was clearly a bigger portion than presented and felt dishonest. This tactic was used to try and suggest we get bloody Mary’s right off the bat, the get more cocktails and add eggs and extra sides for our food.
When one of us tried to order decaf coffee or espresso, we were told “if you knew how hard the chef worked you’d understand why we don’t have decaf.” No one was really sure what that meant but making a customer feel silly for making a normal request was an odd way to handle it.
To top it off the biscuits and gravy were off-putting since they are very sweet. I’m sure he could sense we didn’t enjoy the meal that much since after asking how it was her claimed “we’ll we’re more known for our dinner” as if to acknowledge but avoid the poor brunch experience.
Finally, 22% mandatory gratuity for a “large group” of 6 seems over the top, especially when the service and product wasn’t correspondingly over the top. Having a well-known chef means they should be ensuring that everything they send out is prepared properly and actually works....

As a side my wife had : Roasted Seasonal Vegetables and those are the best seasonal vegetables that she ever ate and being food critic we eat all the time at different fine dining restaurants and we never had something so flavorful and delicious. And for dessert 🧁 we had : Lemon tart and it’s definitely refreshing and freshly prepared dessert, but so light, not too sweet, it’s like you are not eating dessert at all. Must try!
