Very unfortunate that our experience was singled out. We had a nice meal and by the end of the meal we were yelled at as we were walking out of the restaurant and it was a very odd interaction, we proceeded to leave in confusion of what the sushi chefs behind the bar were implying when they were hollaring at us when we left. Almost implying as if we did not pay. I would hate to make this a color thing but considering the demographics there we were the only ones there that were darker in color from what I observed. I called after to clarify what was the problem and to raise my concern with that inappropriate delivery when we walked out and I was told by the woman over the phone that they accidentally did not include a roll on the receipt and it was an internal error on their behalf. NOT A CUSTOMER ERROR. I am still confused why we were hollered at when we were leaving if this "error" had nothing to do with us. I am not convinced this is the REAL problem but rather I am very disappointed that it may be a singled out event due to something more deeper rooted. While I won't be making a mention of that reason.. I will never be going to this restaurant again and I really hope the next customer doesn't have to endure unprofessional treatment that has nothing to do with the customer. We were humiliated and made to feel as if we did something wrong as we walked out with the chefs behind the bar yelling at us while walking out. That behavior should be corrected especially if the customer did not make the mistake. We paid. Left a tip and left to mind our business until we were yelled at as we concluded our meal and were leaving. I'm sure they will be happy that the colored people will not be coming back as well....
Read moreThe servers were so amazing! Two lovely ladies! They both never let my water get to even halfway down before coming and refilling it. They also were very friendly. I came alone to treat myself because I was feeling sad about something personal. It was my first time there. As soon as I came in, all the staff (even the sushi chefs) greeted me. It was so cute! The two women were smiling so big, asking me how I am doing, and talking to me regarding my menu questions in such a friendly warm manner- it turned my whole mood around! The food was FANTASTIC! Big portions and delicious flavors. The salad dressing was so so yummy!!! 😋 Also, normally, I feel like chicken teriyaki and California rolls taste basic, but not here. The marinade was special. TBH, with the perfectly cooked chicken and the marinade..... Perfect sweet savory balance.... I think it was the best that I have had. Also, there were two layers of chicken. Which is double the amount I would get at any other restaurant.
And the California rolls tasted so fresh! Very very good. The tempura included shrimp and vegetables. Perfectly fried and crunchy with good tasting batter. I felt that the lunch special I got was worth more than I paid for it. I was so impressed that I left double the tip that I normally would. And right before I left, I wrote on the receipt, "Best service in town!" I will definitely be back...
Read moreThis is an AUTHENTIC Japanese restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was great. Sure, they have the usual smattering of non-Japanese (American style) rolls to suit the American market. However, there were several clues that this was authentic Japanese cuisine. I ordered Sashimi and they brought a bowl of white rice. In a non-Japanese restaurant, they don't even think about giving you a bowl of rice. The orange root garnish on the sashimi was not carrot, as most people would think. It's actually Yama gobo (pickled burdock root), which is what you would see in a real Japanese restaurant. In addition, I noticed one of the chefs cuts cucumber in the style of a Japanese trained sushi chef. There were a few other things I noticed too, but it was the food that was top notch. The sashimi was fresh, served on a bed of daikon. The uni (sea urchin) was sweet without a strong aftertaste; it just melted in my mouth. Needless to say, if someone gives a bad review here, ignore it. If you just want fish and rice, get that pre-packaged stuff at the supermarket. If you want REAL sushi made in the tradition of generations of Japanese sushi chefs, this is the place! Highly recommended and will be back again...
