Me and the wife had a decent meal at Cap and Cork. The place was super nice, and we both thought it looked and felt great. The tables, floors, walls, everything was clean and well-arranged. We loved the decor, and the whole vibe was awesome.
Our waitress was amazing. She took great care of us, kept our drinks full, and made sure we had everything we needed. She checked on us often and did a fantastic job. The food came out pretty fast, but not too fast, so we had time to finish our appetizer. Overall, the service was exceptional.
The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either, and considering the price, I was a little disappointed. With such a great atmosphere and service, it's a shame the food didn't live up to the hype and price. The appetizer was the duck fat fried Brussels with aioli and Manchego, and it was fantastic. The Brussels were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The duck fat, aioli, and Manchego flavored them nicely with a rich, savory taste that went well with the Brussels' sweetness. I suggest you get them if you check out Cap and Cork. For the main courses, the wife got the bourbon pork chop with peach chutney, asparagus, and a baked potato. The flavor was okay, and the inside texture was alright, not too dry. But the cook was a little off, with one side being blackened, which tasted burnt, and the other side barely cooked. Plus, the chop wasn't trimmed well; the bone side was thick, and the other side was too thin. So the bone side was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, while the thinner side was getting a little dry. The peach chutney was really good and went perfectly with the pork. I also like that they get their peaches locally. It's cool to see local businesses working together. The asparagus was cooked really well and seasoned great. The baked potato was a little bland. I had to load it up with salt and pepper, but for the price, it'd be nice to season the potato while it was in the oven to give it more flavor and make it worth the 27 bucks. That said, the plate wasn't bad overall; it just didn't match the price or the restaurant's vibe. I had the steak frites with aioli fries. I asked for medium-rare, and that's what I got. The New York strip was cooked perfectly. But it needed more seasoning and wasn't trimmed at all. There was still a lot of fat that, while you could eat it, would probably make you feel gross afterward.
I'm still trying to figure out what that flavor was. It was kinda like frostbite, but I really don't wanna think they'd serve frozen steak for 35 bucks, but I think it was frostbite. It wasn't terrible though; I ate the whole thing. It was mostly tender and wasn't a terrible cut of meat. I'd totally eat it again if it was cheaper. The fries were good; they looked soggy but were still crispy and tasted great. Definitely get the fries with the aioli. Honestly, 25 bucks and I'm in. I'd love to say it's a perfect date night spot, but the competition is tough, and for the price, I'd expect a bit more. I'd expect the gristle and fat to be trimmed, and the steak to not taste like frostbite, plus more seasoning. I wouldn't say don't go; the restaurant is decent, and the food isn't bad. The whole meal just didn't feel worth the 120 bucks. There are other places around here that'll give you a better meal...

Read moreFirst, the food was delicious. My avocado burger was an inch thick, half pound ground chuck with pico and guacamole (the avocado) that needed no other condiments. I loved their fried broccoli that I substituted for fries.
My wife enjoyed her carnivore salad, and was especially happy with the house lime vinaigrette dressing she substituted for the ranch dressing that normally comes with the salad.
Unfortunately, it took the kitchen at least 45 minutes to prepare our meals, due to a backlog caused by a large group who had arrived ahead of us according to the manager. They did provide our ($10!) slice of peach cobbler cheese cake for free because of the delay.
The seating area of the restaurant is all new construction done in a "soft" industrial style that, unfortunately, doesn't provide enough acoustic treatment. A nearby table with small children made it nearly impossible for me to hear my wife sitting directly across from me. With the time made available by the slow kitchen service, I found my way to the second floor bar area. After two steps up to a landing and a 90° right turn, I was very surprised to see an additional 21 (I counted them) steps up to the bar. I didn't think the Uniform Building Code allowed such a long flight of stairs without some sort of respite. Pitty the soul who has one too many at that bar!
This is a new restaurant with a few chinks (e.g. one large group overwhelming the kitchen) still to work out. Still, it is definitely worth a visit....
