Went to Henderson tonight. While we were out there we decided to try something different for dinner since we were in that side . I googled Mexican food & this popped up. I did only read the first 2 reviews now reading I shouldâve read further. Mexican is my favorite food. I am from California eating it all my life. To start the chips are stale. The salsa had no kick. We actually added a little salt to it. They do give you beans which were good. So we ordered a margarita of course! I asked the waiter whatâs the best margarita they have he says âOh the Cadillacâ with excitement. I said well we will both have one ! Well for me when I think margarita I think tequila would be the key ingredient not the mix. All I tasted was the mix. HorribleâŚNow Iâm scared but hopeful dinner would be good. Canât be that hard. So we ordered the seafood Signature Molcajetes for 2. Which we did ask the waiter about. The waiter once again hyped it up. Now comes our food we both got a small plate with rice & beans to go with our bowl of food. This dish is supposed to be filled with seafood & let me tell you what it was for $50.00 7 raw shrimp on the outside of the bowl. Two pieces of tilapia(which we donât eat) maybe we shouldâve asked but truthfully who serves tilapia and charges this much. Itâs not even a real fresh fish. In the middle of the bowl was 3 little shrimp, 4 round scallops and some peppers and a few other veggies. The sauce that it was in was ok my boyfriend said. We also got tortillas. We are pescatarian so I know seafood prices. This was about $3.00 worth of seafood. I ate nothing from the Molcajetes. My boyfriend ate a couple bites . I put rice & beans in a tortilla and ate that. I was so hungry. Super disappointed. What a waste of $80.00 especially during these times. I only saw the waiter when he asked us for the drink order & food order. We asked him for extra napkins he never brought them. We kept flagging down whoever for whatever we needed. I usually always leave a tip even when Iâm not satisfied but tonight I did not because nothing was worth the $80.00. I feel like I got took advantage of. I think some of these good reviews may be true and others just donât know what good authentic Mexican food taste like. So...

Everything was incredibly delectable!! From the complimentary colored nachos, and enticing sauces/salsa to the meal , then there's the drinks! If you're into spicy sauces, this is the place for you! They offer a habanero sauce, yummy!
The ambience reminded me of when I visited Mexico. The decor, music, eating utensils and ofcourse the food! Looked like they have live music too! You're welcome to sit inside and outside .
The location is just off of Sunset and Sunset. If you're coming from Trader Joe's, remain to the right. As you turn right, it's located on the right hand side, just about a block away. The fact that it's located in Henderson, minutes away from my house is an added bonus!
I ordered the carne asada street taco and the classic margarita. The taco's were served with rice and beans and fideo soup. The soup was definitely made with LOVE , as if your mom made it, loved the tomato flavor, that added the rich taste to it. Hint : add a little of the habanero sauce to it. ( You're welcome:) ) I usually never eat the rice and beans because most places it's just too bland for me. But to my surprise, this was full of flavor! Bomb.com I heard it's a mom and pop restaurant too! Not surprised! There's something about mom and pop restaurant's that just hits home for me. They usually cook with LOVE!
They're open seven days a week and close at 8 pm ( bummer) I wish they would open longer, especially after a hard day shopping at Trader Joe's . LOL ! It's a perfect place for some "dranks" :) As always, I'll be back * In my Arnold...
Read moreReason for low rating wasnât because of food but the handling of a reservation. We first visited Chavelos few weeks back. Loved the food, & service was great! Was told reservations were preferred. So, last week our daughter from out of state called & said she and her husband were coming to visit for the 4th of July & to celebrate both their bâdays. Which were the 4th & 7th. We thought weâd take them to Chavelos as a surprise. Knew theyâd love it as we did. So on the 1st I called & made the reservation for Saturday, the 4th @ 7:00 pm. On Saturday their daughter(our granddaughter) & husband came up. Also from out of state! To surprise her parents for their birthdays. As we wanted also for them to join us for dinner @ Chavelos, & knowing our reservations were for only the two of us. We decided to go there a bit earlier in hopes theyâd be able to accommodate all of us. So we went up there approx. thirty minutes early. When we drove up there was no one there! Sign on door they were closed for holiday! We were stunned. To say the least! That hour, hungry, & now had to find somewhere to have a nice dinner. Very frustrated! The next day, the 5th, as they were supposed to be open at noon I called about 12:15 & no answer. Just a recording so I left a message. Thinking theyâd surely return my call & possibly, possibly offer some type of compensation. Maybe weâd still get to take the kids for a little celebration. Well no call! So I decided to go ahead and leave this post. We are very disappointed in this experience and think others may...
