The buffalo chicken fries, although had good sauce, had dry chicken which was tasteless, and the fries were excessively salty. Without the cheese, buffalo and ranch sauces, that dish would have been inedible. The chicken strips themselves, although served hot right out of the fryer and we were eating inside the dining room, were dry and stringy! And, the batter was tasteless, as well as the chicken itself. The chicken was obviously not marinated at all, and no spices at all were included with the batter. Combined with the dryness, it was just terrible. Nice decor and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. The service was very good. They even took care of me when I complained about the macaroni and cheese, which was terrible. It had grainy cheese that tasted like it was straight out of the box, and the macaroni was so overcooked, that it turned into mush when you touched it. After I complained about the macaroni and cheese, the very nice guy behind the counter replaced it with some chicken and fries. Although the fries were properly cooked and served hot, they were too salty. And, you already know what I think about their chicken. No flavor; dry; stringy, and tasteless. I don't see a reason to ever come back to The Chicken Shack. After all, we were served a hot meal directly from the fryer, ate in their dining room, but it was still dry and tasteless. Went there to pick up my online order at the sunset road and mountain vista location between 6-7 pm on December 6, 2024. The girl working the counter allowed my food to sit there and get cold while every other customer who came in before and after me got their food from her. When she finally acknowledged my existence she handed me my bag and said they had to wait for the Mac and cheese - something she COULD HAVE told me as I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for her to say SOMETHING to me!!! So while I was made to wait, the rest of my order of chicken fingers and fries got cold and soggy and disgusting. All to wait for Mac and cheese, the thing that should have been ready at the same time as everything else. Horrible experience. Awful restaurant. Terrible food. Poor service. Miserable attitudes. Rude employees especially the girl at the counter. She provided the WORST, most god-awful customer service I’ve ever had and desperately needs to be spoken to and retrained IMMEDIATELY or else she will sink this pathetically operated and staffed restaurant. Very very very small pieces of chicken for the amount of money they charge (5 tiny chicken strips, fries, small Mac n cheese, small chili, and a bottle of root beer for $44! I could’ve got that at Wendy’s for half the price). Avoid this place like the plague. everything I ordered was garbage and that’s exactly where it ended up. Total waste of time and money. Great Chicken and Customer Service !

The chicken shack offers the standard chicken affairs that have become quite popular in recent years. I ordered multiple menu items while on my lunch trip to this establishment. The stand out menu item definitely has to be the Buffalo Chicken fries, the fries are cooked to golden perfection and the chicken has a great well seasoned taste. The buffalo and ranch give these fires the flavor pop that makes them so memorable. Next I had the chicken sandwich which was fine. The chicken was a tad bit on the dry side and the rest of the ingredients where fresh and the lettuce has a great crunch to it. My partner ordered the simple tenders with their hottest sauce and it was more than your simple spicy just to be spicy sauce other chicken places have. The chicken shack’s are all hand made and the taste proves it. You can actually see the species, grounded up peppers and seeds in their sauces. The customer service is amazing! Went on a Sunday during a lunch rush and had food at my table in less than 10 minutes!

Although the Chicken Shack is a great establishment with awesome chicken and amazing customer service, I cannot put it above San Deigo’s Rhythm’s Chicken and Waffles.
