My experience at this restaurant was completely unpleasant and disappointing. It has so much potential but lack of care by the staff is a major issue. I left feeling robbed and taken advantage of while the staff seemed to have no care whatsoever. My husband called the restaurant inquiring about how many pieces come in a roll, he was told 8. He then proceeded to place a To-Go order of 3 rolls thinking 24 pieces would be perfect for us to share, plus a miso soup. After arriving home, he noticed that he was only given 10 pieces total...which was obviously a mistake so he went ahead and called just to see if they forgot some of his order. After speaking to a staff member, they went on to say that whoever told him the rolls were 8 pieces were wrong and they only came with 5. Mind you, we ordered Avocado rolls. No fish, nothing fancy, just plain Avocado Rolls that costs $7 each. He proceeded to tell my husband that they couldn't do anything to help us, as their host was the one he spoke to and she wasn't trained to know the menu. I personally felt robbed because we drove 20 minutes to this restaurant excited to eat some avo rolls, as it's been forever since we could afford to do something like this, just for them to run us in circles. I truly felt like they were not providing good customer service at all. Not only were we told inaccurate information, but they still messed up our order. Even if the rolls were 5 pieces each, we ordered 3 rolls and only received 10 pieces total. So they didn't even complete the order. I ended up calling myself and spoke to a man named Shaw who was more than willing to make this right for us. He said I could come back the next day at 5:00pm and they'd make us the entire meal over again (3 Avocado Rolls & Miso Soup), free of charge. That was obviously more than enough and we were very appreciative that he was willing to help us out! My husband arrived at 5:00pm, ended up waiting 30 minutes before they could help him, and then didn't give us the full meal as they said they would. Instead of giving us the 3 Rolls & Miso Soup, they ended up giving us 2 rolls and nothing else. Yes, something is better than nothing... but, we had to drive 20 minutes there and 20 minutes. We 100% would not of even wasted the gas money to drive back had they not made a false promise of remaking the entire meal for us. We stayed respectful and understanding during each interaction, though they were unable to treat us with respect back. They most definitely took advantage of us and we will not be returning. Their staff needs to work on their empathy and morals. It's very unfortunate that this was the...
Read moreTop sushi is a wonderful place for AYCE sushi. It has a very "Lunch With Friends" atmosphere. The staff is very kind and nice to chat with. The price is very manageable.
Let's start with the most important part. The Food! for a sushi lover, there are many important factors and processes that can make or break a roll. From taste, to the grain size, rinsing to remove starch. I have has several rolls now from Top sushi and Have to say I've been impressed with everyone of them. These rolls are packed well and each bite delivers multiple flavors. You'll never struggle to find the meat in a Top Sushi roll. When My fiance orders Nigiri they take care of her very well. It's practically served on a single grain of rice. Which any sushi lover can appreciate. The taste is a menagerie of flavor and smell and demands I come back to eat more every week or so and the "A Dinner" list Gets you a large sake! :)
The Crew. the Workers at Top Sushi make me happy. They Bring food, move plates, and bring pleasant smiles all around. they move fast, they refill water, and they make you feel like your hunger is important. I have not had to wait on any visit, the ladies are always quick to get their customers in place. If you sit near the sushi makers and happen to catch a glance with them they'll usually smile or wave if they recognize you. Their work is superior. The overall feel of the staff seems happy, as if the place is still in the happy stages of growth. It's refreshing to frequent an establishment where the humans are happy to be working there.
The Style. I'm a big fan of style. My fiance makes fun of me for choosing fashion over comfort sometimes. I like the Things they have brought in. they have glass Chandelier'd Cherry trees. They have signs and posters, lost of cool techno-color under-lighting. One my of favorite arts is a hanging linen at the kitchen entrance that showcases a Kiseru and a samurai captain's hat. If anything could be modified to fit the them, it would probably be the base design of the room. It seems just a little like the side cabin of a bowling alley. That comes from the overall heavy wood decor. I think before this was Top Sushi it had to be a "Classic American Dive" Some changes to this base design would increase the "Japanese" experience.
The Overall Experience. I'm very satisfied with this establishment. I want to keep going and paying and watching them build their dream into something wonderful. Enough reading of my banter....
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Top Sushi and Oyster in Henderson, NV, on a late evening, and I have to say, it was quite the experience. I opted for the B course over the eight-course option, and the price was extremely reasonable for an all-you-can-eat experience. They do offer a 90-minute grace period, which is more than enough time to get your fill.
A standout dish for me was the Beef Bulgogi. You can only order one serving per person, but it's definitely worth trying. The flavor was rich and savory, making it a must-try on the menu. As for the deep-fried rolls, I wasn't as impressed. I tried the Lisa Lisa and Golden Philadelphia rolls, and while they had decent flavor, the breading was a bit overpowering for my taste. If you're a fan of fried food, though, you might enjoy them more than I did. Personally, I’d recommend the Lisa Lisa roll over the Golden Philadelphia if you want to go the fried route.
On the other hand, the baked Lobster and Baked Alaska rolls were a pleasant surprise. Both were flavorful, especially if you're a fan of cream cheese and avocado—definitely something I'd recommend.
Another highlight was the Nigiri. I went with the garlic salmon and garlic tuna, and both were seasoned to perfection. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the texture was just right. The presentation was also top-notch, making it a true delight to both taste and admire.
For dessert, I tried the strawberry mochi. While it was just a single piece, it was comparable to the ones you can find at the store, so nothing too special but still enjoyable.
Overall, the value for the price is definitely worth it, and I'd be happy to return. It does get a bit busy, as we had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table, but with so many options on the menu, it’s easy to find something you like. Some rolls come in two pieces, while others come in four, and you can always order multiple if you're feeling adventurous. I'll...
