My family and I were celebrating my little sisters 17th birthday. We had a reservation at 5pm, for a medium sized group. We walk in right at 5, we had 2 people who were pulling into the parking lot, I understand the whole group should be there upon seating, so we waited. While waiting for less than 2 minutes, the hostess comes up to us asking my name for the reservation and the number of people. I confirm the time and number of people when the man asked “where are the rest of them?”. I told him that the 2 others are parking their car right at the moment and should be inside within a minute, the time was 5:03. The male hostess then shows me his reservation sheet, and asks me what time the reservation says, I looked confused, but answered to him “…5pm?”. He then responds to me rudely “yes, and what time is it now?”, I answered back “5:05”. I asked if it was possible to seat us as our friends park their car just get drinks and appetizers offered, he then asks “how do you know what they want? You’re going to order their food??” I realized this guy wanted to argue with me and I was just very uncomfortable and so was my family and we were speechless. He and I have been going back and forth for a few minutes when I realized he was trying to belittle me in front of people, maybe a power trip idk. I then asked him “is this a big issue? Is our reservation canceled, do we need to leave?”. And he tells me next time I come to a reservation, I should be on time. My friends come in at this time and the hostess is still asking me belittling questions about being “late”, even though any restaurant I’ve been to has a 10-15 minute grace period, and we were technically “5 minutes late”. I’ve never been treated this way by any restaurant staff ever in my life…it was super weird. It set me into a panic attack as I don’t do well with confrontation. Won’t...
Read moreI'll start by saying I continue to go to Osaka because I want it to be better than it actually is, so go into this knowing I'd prefer this place to be amazing, but in reality that is not the case. The bright spots are some of the sushi is good for the price but it's very hit or miss. The tempura is good. The ramen is an abomination and should be avoided. Even calling it ramen is close to an insult. The udon is fine but is very bland, if you go into it expecting a quality, flavorful broth you will be very disappointed. The main issue is at the price point they've selected, they're representing certain quality of products, and in many cases, you will be let down. The service ranges from excellent to very poor, and I've yet to figure out a common denominator of what you will get. The closest I've come up with is how many regulars are in the restaurant at any one time as the staff sometimes gets distracted talking to tables for quite a while as you wait for basic services. Other times, you will get some of the best service possible without any issue at all. The first time I went to Osaka, I tipped around fifty percent just from being so impressed with everything. Other times, I've waited ten minutes to get water in an almost empty restaurant. I guess what I would say is you don't know what you're going to get with Osaka. Your food may be hot and delicious, as long as it's not the ramen, or it might be extremely mid. Please be...
Read moreBig sushi snob here. Have worked and spent time in Japan and lived in LA for years (can find a lot of great sushi in LA). We moved to Henderson in May and we were beginning to think we would just have to bite the bullet and go to the Strip and overpay for decent sushi. We have gone to Hiroba, I Love Sushi and Spicy Tuna at the recommendation of friends and none of them were good to be honest. So happy to have tried Osaka last night. We came late and had really low expectations (in our experience teppan places have always done average sushi at best). Not the case here. We had yellowtail, toro, halibut, albacore, a couple of rolls and everything was EXCELLENT. Our friend also had gyoza and said it was great. Cutting skills of the chef are top notch. Quality and freshness of the fish was spot on. We even ordered a fried rice with shrimp and that was excellent, as well. Service was friendly and attentive. We live really close by and could not believe what a lucky find this was. We will be back again and again. If this place is able to deliver this level consistently it will be our go-to. I don't even need to try any other place in the area. Need to try teppan next. I wish I would have taken pics of the food but we ate...
